Hey, this is Dakota.
And this is Kion, your favorite OK Storytime host, and we've got some great stories coming right up.
But before that, we have a quick two-minute break from the sponsors that keep the show alive.
My wife pranks me during our wedding and I can't move on from it. You may think it's funny, but that hurt. Wife says, I need to get over it. But I can't stop obsessing over a prank that ruined my wedding experience and left me furious. I had an amazing wedding experience that was completely ruined by a prank my wife and friends played during the garter removal. During the reception, we were doing all the usual wedding games...
And eventually I was told it was time to do the garter removal. As everyone gathered around us in the middle of the dance floor, my wife was sitting in a chair and my friends brought out a blindfold and told me I would be doing the garter removal blindfolded. Do we think?
I already know where this is going.
Bet Opie maybe. I see you. Garter removed. Someone weird.
Probably a guy.
Maybe her dad. Or his mother.
I was going to say mother or another, like a friend.
And I hope not. I think mother, father, like her father, or a friend. I should have been suspicious at their grins, but I'd had some drinks. Wasn't suspecting anything. Put it on and tried to be a good sport about it. As everyone seemed like they were having a great time. Myself included. As soon as I was blindfolded, however, my wife slipped out of the chair and was replaced by one of my groomsmen.
Was he wearing a dress?
I don't know. I hope so.
I don't know. He's a friend of the family I've grown up with, but I would not say we're close. Now, I literally cannot stand him. Why is he your groomsman?
Well, because I think it's the on the other side. Didn't he say?
No, it's his groomsman.
Well, yeah, but it might be like the sister or the.
He's a friend of the family I've grown up with.
Maybe the family forced him.
Oh.
I'm just saying, why did you, you didn't have to make him one of your groomsmen.
Maybe to make it even.
That's so stupid. If you can't stand him, why? Although he's not a bad guy, other than my anger at this prank. Or maybe it's, maybe perhaps it is now I can't stand him. I don't know. By the way, this comes from Jackson Rider 2025. And if you want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash okay story time subreddit. I'm Sophia. I'm Savannah.
I'm Keon.
And we're here to give good advice goofily, but we don't know all the answers. We only know what we'd do. So please, let us know what you would do in the comments. Opie says, Sitting in the chair in place of my wife. My groomsman was in shorts with a garter around his thigh. My wife stood behind him and was talking to me as they walked me over to keep me fooled into thinking it was her. On their instructions, I got down on my knees and began reaching for what I thought were my wife's legs. Once I found the leg, I found the garter and began pulling it down.
But at that moment, I heard my wife say, with your mouth, with your mouth.
And Opie, you're hearing it behind you?
I'm going to be so for real.
No, she's probably like next to him.
Yeah, she's probably like, what's your mouth?
Yeah.
So I leaned forward and grasped the garter belt in my mouth. The shrieks and applause of the crowd with the garter in my teeth. I pulled it down his leg and then my wife actually came around to help me get it over his shoe because it got stuck. It felt awful.
Aww.
I was furious, I wanted to say, and do a million different things, but I didn't. For some reason, I just felt that pretending it wasn't a big deal was the best defense. That showing anger would be confirming how badly I'd just been humiliated for their delight, and that would have made my humiliation all the worse. So I sucked it up, sleepwalked through the rest of the wedding while doing my best to keep a smile on my face.
My wife could tell I was stunned, but she kept on going too. She definitely had no idea how badly I was taking it. Everyone was standing around us and we couldn't talk openly about how I felt. At least not without ruining everything. And I didn't know whether I wanted to go there after all the effort and money put into the wedding. So I kept sucking it up the next day at the brunch and for most of the next week through most of our honeymoon.
Dang.
Dang, you sucked it up a while.
Yeah. That's just filling with more resentment.
Yeah, I mean, it's just building up.
It's more rage.
Yeah.
You're going to explode, OP. You're about to explode.
I don't know. I feel bad because it's kind of like he got bullied on his day.
He did.
Yeah. He is the Joker. You know, can I see where she was coming from?
Yes.
Yes. I can see how she thought, oh, this will be funny. It's his friend, yada, yada. But also in a much realer sense, why do we want to even do anything that makes fun of our partner on the day that's supposed to be about us?
Yeah.
It's like, I don't know.
Yeah.
Like during weddings, like it's lighthearted or like stuff like that, but.
It's like smashing your partner's face into the cake. It's only fun if they say yes and want to be a part of that.
Yes.
And you know your partner will think it's funny. I will.
Well, even then, like, it's like, you know, can I do that?
No, you just ask.
I will immediately unlive my husband if he slams a cake in my face.
Same.
No.
I think the jokes that are fine are, like, the ones where they, like.
Yeah, where they, like, dot your nose. I'm like, okay, whatever. It's just my nose.
And applying that here, if OP was not blindfolded and they said, okay, we got your groomsman. Like, you have to deal with him. And OP was like, okay. Like, different context. He's in on the joke. Everyone's laughing with him. But this is, yeah, this is just mean. Ugh.
I hate that because that's what he, like, now his entire wedding is room. That's all he thinks about.
That's all he's gonna think about.
Aww.
At some point, I told myself that my wife didn't mean to hurt me and there's no reason to ruin her wedding memories by telling her that my experience had been ruined. But then at the end of our honeymoon, I had had a few drinks and I just couldn't help it. And once I started talking to her about it, I just went off. I told her it was trashy, that it hurts, if not destroyed my trust. and sense of intimacy towards her. I was harsh and got carried away.
After at first apologizing a bit she got upset and left me sitting out there. I think I just kept going because I felt hurt and wanted to maybe make her feel bad as well to be honest. Since then it's been a difficult subject. I've told her I don't want to hear about the wedding. I don't want to write thank you notes, look at pictures. If it was tomorrow, I wouldn't make plans to celebrate our anniversary. My wife and I have a lot of strengths in our relationship, but I just can't stop thinking about this and the feeling when I took off that blindfold. I literally cannot stop my mind from replaying it over and over, and I get mad again every time. And perhaps the worst part of it is that it's all recorded. We had
a professional photographer shooting a video. And in the video, I see at least four other people recording it on their phones. Watching the video, I find myself looking at the laughing faces of family and friends in the video. And there's a part of me that I'd never act on that wants nothing more than to the old one to them in the face. The fact I know that these videos are out there makes it feel like it's constantly happening to me. My wife says that she's sorry that she thought I would take it better and laugh it off and that I need to move on. That you can't just tell people to move on.
Yeah, it's not how it works. That's like, you know. It's like you, you like cut your knee and it's like, stop bleeding.
Stop.
Just stop. Stop bleeding.
Stop.
Why aren't you stop? It's not stop.
Listen, stop.
Yeah. Don't happen.
That's not how it goes.
I think maybe I am the a-hole. No good is coming from obsessing over this, but I literally cannot let it go. I find myself coming up with reasons to be angry. I tell myself sometimes it was a harmful act because I was tricked into putting my mouth on another man's leg without my consent. But I think that's just rationalizing my anger. I don't know. Am I the a-hole for refusing to let it go? And we got some comments.
I don't think that that's like a question for this. Like, I don't think you would, you know, be the a-hole for not being able to get closure from this. It's like those two. That's not like the question to ask you. The question is, are you willing to move on from this or not?
Can you move? I mean, I guess that it's the same. It's it's a very similar question. Yeah. Yeah. I guess it's you're not the a-hole for not moving on. It's just can you? Yeah.
I don't think like I mean, if anyone's the a-hole here, it's obviously the people involved in the prank.
Yeah.
And, you know, they thought it would be funny and it wasn't. But the thing is, they're not doing anything about it to make you feel better about the situation completely. Cause you know, they got their laughs, everything worked out. The prank was funny. Everyone laughed. So they got everything they wanted, but yet you're stuck being like, that was the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me. And I don't know where to go from here. That's all like, whenever he sees these people, he's like, Oh, that's all they're thinking. But really it's not, you know? But we got some relevant comments. Commenter says, um, you're totally allowed to be pissed off and totally get it.
So what do you want to happen? She's apologized. You vented and now? Opie says, I don't know. I think this is why I'm so mad about it. I don't know what can be done to take away that feeling of taking off the blindfold and seeing him. Instead of her, everyone breaking out laughing at me, looking up to see her laughing at me, realizing I was the butt of the joke. And everyone had been laughing at me instead of along with me the whole time.
But you're right.
What do I want now? I don't know. Maybe there's nothing I want other than to forget about it. And when I think about it, part of me wants to be a good sport. Part of me gets so mad and I can go either way and I hate it. And we do have an update two and a half months later. Oh, What? Hi, everyone. This is the wife.
Oh.
Okay okay okay okay put it in now do we think wife is going to make it better or worse for herself because we've seen it either way where like the you know the second person will will come in and reveal some information that we didn't know.
But also sometimes they just kind of dig their grave even deeper. So what do we think is going to happen here? Put it in the comments. One, she's digging that grave. Two, she, I don't know. She's making it better. She makes it better. They're happy with it. If you know us and what this is about, please know we're very embarrassed about this. We took it down, but it's been shared so many times it just keeps trickling on.
So I'm writing this for both of us. This feels like a PR statement. Please know that we're very embarrassed by this. And we did take it down. And we are talking to our lawyers. Publicly apologizing. This is the last thing we want to say about this. My husband deeply regrets some of the language he used. This is a PR statement. Aren't you speaking for your husband? Yeah, what?
She's like, let me clean this up.
He intended to write anonymously and was letting out unfiltered emotions. Abraham Lincoln said, write an angry letter and tear it up.
Are we writing a college essay?
She's doing the same thing. She's doing the same thing that she did earlier. This is crazy. She said, just move on.
Wow.
My husband made the mistake of hitting post, assuming this was harmless venting. He regrets it. Why are we... Does he have no mouth? He cannot speak? We've reached out to and are on good terms with everyone involved. Everything's fine. As regards to the wedding, I am the only one who messed up here. Our planner gave us options. I watched the videos. I thought it was funny. I messed up.
This isn't opinion. It's fact.
Okay.
I messed up because it wasn't funny to the only person who mattered to me. I want people to understand both of our perspectives because no one here.
Is an a-hole.
Okay, keep going.
Are you trying to convince yourself?
Whose feelings got hurt? Who got really upset and had a bad wedding?
Okay, if you say so.
A bad wedding experience.
If you say so.
What my husband didn't make clear is that he was an absolute sweetheart at the wedding afterwards. I'm sorry? Yeah, he did make clear. Did we forget? I'm sorry, he did make that pretty clear that he was a good sport and pretended that he was okay. In reality, he was not okay. This is juicy. I like this. Overall, our honeymoon was amazing because he was masking his feelings.
Aww.
This is insane. And he doesn't mention at all that he only got mad at the end because I was teasing him about it. So you made it worse.
Ugh.
And I was only teasing him because I had no idea he was upset about it. I could tell I was needling him, but it was meant to be good-natured.
No.
Having said all that on my own behalf, of course I thought he would think this was funny. He has a great sense of humor. We joke around a lot and always will. This just hit different. And sometimes that happens. I feel like an idiot taking this risk at our wedding. I didn't exactly tell him to get over it. I couldn't talk about it anymore when it was first brought up because I love my husband and was upset to hear him get angry. Probably in large part because he never gets angry like that. Afterwards, we decided to wait to talk about it until we could do so calmly.
At the same time, we did need him to get over it and move forward. Wow.
Oh, my. This is like backhand everything she says. She says, like, I apologize. But also he shouldn't have taken it like that.
At the same time, he needed to get over it. Yeah. Like, who are you? We can't never mention our wedding or anniversary again or live with anger again. With casual eye, it looks like this is a well-received prank in a hundred different videos. I thought it would go over well and so did everyone else. I do now wonder if there are videos of this prank that didn't get posted because the husband made it clear he didn't like it.
I looked at some comments.
Keep going.
We're almost done. I looked at the comments for this one.
Oh boy.
It's, uh, yikes.
I'm sure people tear her apart, as they should.
Oh, boy.
Yeah.
As they freaking should. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This girl's a witch. Yeah, she sucks. On all levels.
She sucks.
Pretty, pretty bad. But we got more. Bottom line, this was unfortunate and completely unnecessary. But you live and you learn. We're doing great. And this has been blown way out of proportion. On the bright side, how many couples can say their weddings were covered by the New York Post?
What?
We're happily moving on. My husband says he hopes everyone gets his thank you cards. That's it.
Goodbye.
That's it. Goodbye. Wow. Yikes. Okay, wait.
So did her wedding get covered by the New York Post?
I imagine the Reddit post got covered.
Okay.
Because sometimes Reddit posts blow up and then they get posted on.
And you're happy about that?
Now everyone knows you're a witch. That's why she posted. Well, now I think she's like, oh, shoot. It got like everyone knows about this and now I have to do damage control. My God. But we got some final comments and I do imagine they're not good.
I hope they're not good.
This comment on the wife's post seems to reveal a section she removed.
Hmm.
I want people to understand both of our perspectives. Oh, okay, okay, okay. So this comment got a deleted part of the post and reposted that or re-commented that part of the post. Okay. So this is still the wife. I want people to understand both of our perspectives because no one here is an ale. I probably wouldn't have liked it at our wedding if my husband had tricked me into getting down on my knees between another man's legs and taking something off of his thigh with my mouth while everyone stood around laughing and filming it. So you're the ale. I probably would have thought it was tacky and possibly gross, depending on who the guy was. I will get trashed for this, but I did not think it would be
the same for a guy.
Oh, boy.
She's like, guys don't need to have consent, right? That's funny. That's just for women.
He thinks it's funny, guys.
Another man biting another man's leg. That's comedy.
That's peak comedy. I got some of the comments saying, From, like, the main, the original post. And then we also have, like, the updated post with all that stuff. This is the original post. Softbrush1082 says, you're the a-hole. I don't feel a shred of remorse in this post. Lucky for you that your husband seems to have forgiven you. You may find out later down the line that he actually never forgot.
And there's, like, everyone is just calling her an a-hole. Someone said two words, damage control.
Literally.
And then OP says, actually, we're fine.
Okay. That's the wife.
That is not.
That's the wife.
Yeah, that's not the husband.
No, no, we're fine. Well, the we're is always the wife. No, we're fine. We're his husband. We're his wife. Dang.
Then the actual post with the update and everything. Someone said, Amazon Mommy says, well, he's chained up in the basement, but everything's fine.
See? Fine. Yeah, it's fine.
Literally.
He's fine. He's okay. He's fine.
That's what I'm thinking. I think they have him chained to the radiator.
He's chained.
He's got to be. He's got to be.
No, it's crazy.
I don't know.
Another comment here from Kimmy the Pooh says, I feel like the fact that the update came from the wife and not the husband is the problem. Like, I want to hear from the husband.
The one who actually posted and had concerns.
Yeah, that his feelings were, you know, hurt.
And she just covered it up and was like, no, actually, we're fine.
Yeah. We're okay. We talked it through.
Oh, and I found something. I found it here.
What?
Cake Day at Christmas says, from what I gather, the post was shared widely and was even written about in the New York Post. Trash birdcage liner tablet. And she was embarrassed by it because it does not paint her in a good light. So she went public relations damage control and wrote the second post. And also the update does not paint her in a good light.
No, it does not. No, it does not. Wow.
Did not do any damage control. You made it ten times worse, you freaking idiot.
Yeah, I knew it would. I knew it would. It's always one of those.
She needs to buy a brain. I don't even know.
Like, you can't.
Hers obviously doesn't work.
Hers is broken. Hers is really broke. But that's the end of that story, folks.
Dang.
And also probably the end of their relationship.
And that's the end of this story. We're going to go on to the next one.
I asked my wife for one small favor, and she turned against me.
Ah, a guy can't get a favor on you?
I spent a weekday afternoon at the local park slash playground roller skating with our nine-year-old.
That sounds so fun.
Yeah, I would do that in a heartbeat. I had brought skates, helmets, protective gear, water bottles, etc. About an hour in, I realized he was getting too warm in jeans and could have used shorts.
Uh-oh.
At that point, we were already in the middle of roller skating. He really didn't want to stop and go home because we would have had to take off a lot of gear, walk to the car, drive home, get the shorts, drive back, and gear up again. The drive itself is only about five minutes each way, but it would have interrupted the whole thing. He also didn't want to stay alone in the park while I went. Well, why would he not go with you?
He's nine years old.
I would not leave my nine-year-old alone at a park.
Don't do that.
This feels like very, not all, but very dad coded. So I called my wife who was at home. and asked if she could find his shorts and maybe, only if she wanted to, walk towards us with them so I could run downhill and meet her halfway. The park is about a 10-15 minute uphill walk from our house. She said yes and said she could just take a walk all the way up.
By the way, this comes from Normal Door Man.
Very peculiar name. And if you want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash okay story time subreddit.
I'm Savannah. I'm Sophia. I'm Dakota.
And we're here to give some good advice goofily.
But guess what? We don't have all the answers.
I don't even know what I ate for breakfast this morning.
But yeah, we're going to say some stuff.
And, you know, you can fact check us. I don't know if that's going to work, but then you're going to say some stuff and we're just going to go with it. As Opie says. A few minutes later, she called back and said, you know what? I was being too nice before. I offered way too much. I'm not going to walk up there. I'll put the shorts in the driveway and you can come get them. Wait, that's so funny. That's so funny.
I'm just imagining if my boyfriend Tyson was like, hey, like, do you mind doing this favor? And I was like, yeah, of course. And then 10 minutes later, I'm like, I've been too freaking nice before. You do it.
How dare you?
So strange. I said, okay, no problem.
And did not push it. I know when to not. In the end, we did not go get the shorts. We just rolled up his jeans, which worked fine. Later that evening, when we came home, my wife was still angry. She said she felt insulted that I had asked her to bring the shorts when I was the one with the car.
And the drive was so short.
She said if the rules were reversed, I would never have agreed to walk up there. She didn't want to hear anything about why I had asked, but demanded that I acknowledged and agreed with the feeling of being insulted. I think it was completely fine. She didn't want to do it, but I did not agree that it was insulting to ask.
It's, I think it's very, I don't know. I haven't, I've been in situations where people will say even asking for a favor, like certain favors, is insulting. I personally am not of the mind that asking for something is, for most things, is insulting. Because you can just say no. That's true. You can just say no.
But then some people can't say no.
Yeah, but that's on them. It's not on me. Say no. That's true. Unless I know that they can't say no and I'm always asking them.
From my point of view, I made a low pressure practical request. She could have said no. When she changed her mind later, I accepted it without arguing. When I wouldn't agree that the request was insulting, she said, don't ever ask me anything again that you wouldn't do yourself.
But I'm assuming he would do that. I feel like he would do that. You know, she's assuming that he wouldn't do that. It doesn't feel like he has ever agreed with her. Yeah, I don't know.
I really don't know. I don't think it is true. I would refuse the favor if rules were reversed. Depending on the situation being the same, I would have absolutely done it. And on such a sunny day, I would just.
Turned it into a run.
I also don't think anybody should make a rule about not asking questions. By the way, I'm going to be asking a lot of questions if you don't listen to full episodes of stories just like this. Go to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, or your favorite podcast app and just search up OK Storytime.
I agree with Opie.
I don't think that's any harder than asking a question.
Honestly, truthfully, she might be on her period. I agree. I agree. Someone said maybe she's pregnant. I genuinely think this adverse reaction feels like maybe this is not a thing that she does a lot. If you're like, she always does this, then maybe that's another issue.
Yeah, this is something she's never done before.
Could be could be a phase of the moon.
Yeah, I don't know what her deal is, because I feel like this wasn't a big deal. And you were like, no worries, I'll get it. And then like, was she mad that you that she put it out and you didn't get it? You know, but even then, like, why is that a big deal? Who cares? Nobody was like suffering. I don't know. For context, my wife is generally not the one who spends several hours doing activities like this at the park. If she takes him, she is usually watching rather than participating, and she would normally stay for a shorter time. She prefers to stay at home, so I don't think this was about her being jealous that I was at the park while she was home. Am I the a-hole for asking her in the first place?
There is an edit.
The part about reversed roles has come out completely wrong, opposite of my intent. Now fixed. I have said no to her occasionally in the past, but I would have done this, and the verdict is you're an a-hole. Really?
I don't think that's an a-hole. I have no idea at all why you would be the a-hole in this scenario.
And she said like she said no. And you didn't like give her tongue or anything.
You were just like, oh, no worries. Didn't give her what? He didn't give her tongue or anything. Maybe that's why you're the a-hole. Didn't give her tongue. Do you mean lip? Give her lip? You didn't give her tongue and now she's an a-hole? You didn't give her tongue or nothing.
Right before I said that, I was like, I hope this is the right thing that I'm going to say.
And it wasn't. I just bombed. I mean, you didn't give her head or nothing. Not even a lick.
I didn't even get a lick of anything.
Not even a little kiss. A little blow of a kiss. I got nothing. Blow or nothing. Am I the a-hole for not giving tongue?
Whatever.
I guess it's lip. I thought it was tongue.
Whatever.
It's close. It's right there.
She didn't care. Teeth.
It's on the tip of the teeth. The tip of the tongue.
The lips.
The teeth. The tip of the tongue. The tip of the tongue. The teeth and the lips.
And that's the end of this story. We're going to go on to the next one.
My best friend was lonely, but my wife refused to let me visit. Well, secret's out, you stink. So my wife and I, 29 male and she's female, are in a disagreement and I'm looking for neutral opinions. That's what we've got. I will do my best to lay out the facts neutrally. My best friend and I grew up together, so neutral, and have been friends for almost 20 years.
We lived in the same city until about eight years ago when I moved away. He stayed in our home city, so I would still see him a few times a year when I went back to visit family. At the beginning of the year, he moved to a new city where he knows almost nobody. Now, about six months in, he's told me he's lonely and having trouble making friends.
He's planning to host a get-together in a few weeks to try to meet more people and become better at friends with the acquaintances he's made so far and would love if i could come he offered to let me stay at his place he's renting a small but comfortable place with a couple of bedrooms and one bathroom now this is important because although he would be happy to host both of us in the spare bedroom it's a deal breaker for my wife to share a bathroom.
Uh share the bathroom with the other.
Guy no i i get that that's kind of just ridiculous to me yeah i I mean, then get a hotel.
I don't know.
Additionally, my wife and I have a kind of big trip planned at the end of the year, and it would not be financially wise of us to throw another trip on the books. Also, the city he's in is hosting the World Cup matches, and hotel prices are ridiculous.
So you're in L.A.
Aren't there other ones on the East Coast, too?
I don't know.
Yeah, they're all over the place. Yeah, I think they're all over the U.S., Basically, I can afford to get a flight for myself and go see him without paying for a hotel. I can't really do two flights and hotels for me and my wife to both go. By the way, this comes from Screen Storytelling, and if you want to make your own stories, go to the r slash OK Storytime subreddit. I'm Sophia. I'm Savannah. I'm Dakota.
And we're here to give good advice goofily, but we don't have all the answers. We only know what we do. So let us know what you would do in the comments. And Opie says, I floated to my wife the idea of me heading out there for two, two nights to visit him for a weekend. She does not like the idea and says I shouldn't leave her for a weekend.
That sounds like codependency.
I was going to say that.
Do you want to sing it?
Yeah.
That sounds like codependency. Yeah.
I thought you guys were going to sing it together. I thought so too.
And then she didn't join in.
Oh, one, two, three. That sounds like codependency. I push the subject a little and she seems pretty firm, but I really miss my friend and want to cheer him up since he's going through a rough time. So I'm considering bringing up the subject again and saying respectfully, but firmly, look, I need to go see my friend. This is a one-time thing. And as my wife, I'm asking you to find it in your heart to be okay with that.
Or maybe look, I would love for you to come with me, but we can't book a hotel. I would be happy to do that, but she seems very anti-sharing a bathroom. Other info, my best friend and her get along great. He was the best man at our wedding. We've all hung out a few dozen times over the eight years that she and I have been together. There's never been any drama between them. She's even tried to set him up with a couple of her friends before.
We all get along. Alright, my wife and I are generally happy in our marriage, and as far as I know, there are no unrelated issues affecting this disagreement. We trust each other and have no history of cheating or anything like that. We don't have any special plans for the weekend that I want to go visit him. It's just a random weekend that we don't have anything planned. Genuinely, is she not letting you go on any trips by yourself?
Cause that's weird. That is actually crazy. If I told my boyfriend that he can't go on a trip with his friends. Oh God. That would be insane.
I would want my man to go. Not that I wouldn't want him to like, you know, be around me or whatever, but like get your man, like, you know, they have to get their steam off. Some way, like go do the boys night. Like, you know, just like how girls need a girls night. Like boys need to go do stupid things together. So then they feel better.
I've had my boyfriend go on trips with like, you know, a co-ed group of friends, but like, I don't like, it's a camping trip. I don't even go on it.
Yeah.
It's his thing. So if he doesn't like to camp, it's his thing. I like, just my point is you don't have to do everything together. And I went to Guatemala without him. So every other weekend this summer would have presented other obstacles to We have no children, two pets who are pretty self-sufficient and easy to care for, solo for two nights. Aside from one family vacation early in our relationship before we were married, I've never gone on any non-work-related trips without my wife. This is the first time I've ever wanted to do anything like this.
I occasionally travel for work, but it's like max three weeks total over an entire year. My wife has no problems with me traveling for work, but she does get a little sad. when it happens it sounds like she needs to like have an extended support system have friends that she can hang out with when you're gone because this is a little ridiculous.
Yeah this is not healthy uh especially because she can't be on her own for like what was she doing before you I don't know. I don't trust people who can't like live independently. That's way too much pressure on me and way too much pressure on them.
Always? Always? We have an update. She brought up three points about her perspective. I did not intentionally leave out any of the following context. I just didn't realize this info would be relevant. But now that we've discussed the subject more, it is because it's her POV. First is a quick one. The bathroom thing. She's got IBS. I knew this already and maybe it was silly of me to not put that in my original post for context.
It's not severe, but does make her self-conscious about sharing a private bathroom with anyone who isn't a family member. The thing is, I didn't understand the extent to which it makes her self-conscious. We have never been anywhere traveling where we needed to share a private bathroom in an overnight stay with anyone who is not a family member.
So this consideration is new to me as it has never come up before learning moment. Second is her main point, which is... is that she says it's a cultural difference. She is from Colombia, not just her heritage. She lived there until she was 20. I mention the heritage thing because we are friends with another couple who are both Latino, and a guy recently went on a few nights guy's trip with some of his best friends. I brought this up, and my wife said, yeah, well, they're Latin, but we're both raised in the US and have a blended, semi-Americanized way of seeing things. She says that in Latin America in general, it would be pretty much unheard of for a married man to go on a non-work trip and for the wife to be okay with it unless it
was a friend's bachelor trip or something. To the point where she said she's not going to mention me visiting my friend to any of her friends back home because they would question her and judge her for it.
That's crazy.
I gotta be honest. This perspective is difficult to wrap my head around. And I find the logic quite flawed because a bachelor trip stereotypically would lend itself to debauchery.
Yeah.
Whereas I'm just seeing a friend in another city for a weekend for two days. He's not thrown rager. He's going to have like 10 people over and we're going to play games and grill.
And she's also invited. Like that's the thing. It's not like she's not invited. And she's like, no, don't go without me. Like, yeah, you could go, but you don't want to.
I don't have any leg to stand on to disagree here, though, because I didn't grow up in South America, so who am I to say what would and wouldn't be expected? But yeah, this is something I intend to unpack with her another time. Finally, the last point is that her mom is visiting and staying at our place, but it's before I would leave to visit my friend. Her mom is going to be staying with us for about two weeks, and then two nights after she leaves is when I would leave. She and her mom are extremely close, and living in different countries is hard for them. And my wife gets very sad when she leaves, but she gets sad for like a day. I thought two nights of us being together would be plenty of quality time for
her to get past saying goodbye to her mom again. My wife said she was just looking forward to spending the weekend together after her mom leaves so that she doesn't feel lonely. I'm sorry, girl. It's two days.
Yeah, what?
It's two days.
You can feel lonely for two days. It's not the end of the world. Go hang out with your friends. Yeah, or like call a family and be like, hey, want to do something?
Like, I don't know. Ask your mom to extend her visit by two days. Maybe that's an option.
There's so many things you could do here. And she's like, nope, you have to drop everything for me and you can't do anything if I'm not there.
In the end, I'm going to see my friend by myself. And her mom ended up extending her trip there. Boom, boom, boom.
Got it.
I see you. And she'll leave the same day that I get back. I told my wife, OK, I'm glad that's a solution. But I also told her gently and with love that it shouldn't really have been a problem anyways. Thank you. Thank you. And if something with similar circumstances comes up again in the future. Whether her mom is staying with us or not, it shouldn't be a problem.
I encouraged her that she is more than welcome to go on a girl's trip and pointed out that she would probably expect me to have no issues with that if it didn't interfere with other commitments and was affordable for us. That seemed to maybe make a difference. I also want to give some broad responses to perspectives shared by several people who commented on the original post. About my wife, she is a lovely human being and I'm happy to share my life with her. As is the case with any human being, she is not perfect. Yes, I agree with some comments that she is handling this disagreement immaturely, but I do not consider her an immature or selfish person. She rocks in so many ways. But the point of my post was not to go on
about the great things about her. It was about gathering opinions for this specific disagreement. I do not need permission to go on the trip. But as several married people indicated, this isn't really about permission. It's about not rocking the boat for things that aren't worth it. This is not catastrophic disagreement. It's just one that was unexpected. If it was going to be a serious issue, then I would have had to choose between pissing her off or accommodating something I found unreasonable. And then, yeah, I would have probably become a pain point. But it didn't get to that stage because we reached an understanding. A few years ago when he was going through a really rough time for totally different reasons. Him telling me that he's kind
of lonely is not a drastic call for help. It's just a heads up. that he misses hanging out. I even asked him, how are you really? And he was honest, said yeah. Admittedly, he isn't feeling his best, but he reassured me he's not in a serious crisis. Money stuff, this disagreement wasn't really about money. Money is relevant, but it's not the point. I'll just say that we are thankfully financially sound, but that's because we make the effort to find a good balance between hitting our savings goal and enjoying life. We both agree that two nights of hotel, especially given the high rates because of the World Cup, is just not worth it. And that's the end of the story. Well, I don't know.
It still is an issue. I feel that needs to be addressed.
Yeah.
Just, I don't know.
I mean, maybe she needs therapy. Maybe like, because you can't always be there. There's going to be times where you cannot physically be there and she has to be okay with that. It's just part of life. No one is attached at the hip.
No one's there all the time.
So you're going to have to figure it out.
But that's the end of that story.
Hey, it's Keon, your favorite short king. We're going to get back to the stories, but here's three minutes of ads from our sponsors.
I discovered my girlfriend cheating with multiple people, so I exposed her.
As you should. Get her out there on the streets.
I made this Reddit post to address you. I won't put your name out there, but I know you regularly read posts like these since you used to bring them up and listen to podcasts with them. I'm sure you'll know it's about you when reading it. I, 29 male, caught my girlfriend, 31 female, cheating on me. This time I have undeniable proof after she lied to my face about it. We've been friends for five years and started dating three years ago. I love this woman with everything I had. I truly thought she felt the same. A few months ago, we hit a rough patch and argued a lot. I really thought we were going to break up.
I hit rock bottom. I was severely depressed. One Saturday, we had plans to attend a wedding together. You live a fair distance away and neither of us had a car. But we didn't mind taking the extra steps to make it work. That morning, I asked what time you'd be coming over so we could get ready and head out.
I even offered to pay for your Uber. You said, okay. Hours went by. I didn't hear from you. And I started spiraling. I had a panic attack. I checked your location and it wasn't your house. It was some random parking lot. I messaged you. No reply. After a while, your location just disappeared. Turned off. By the way, this comes from DifficultSearch32, and if you want to send me your own stories, you know where to go. I'm Riley.
I'm Savannah.
And we're here to read stories goofily. We don't have all the answers. We only know what we do know. If you have anything you'd like to add, please add it down below. OP says, I was worried sick. I kept calling. No answers for six hours. I was panicking. Then at 9.30 p.m., note this time, you finally picked up.
Your first words were, are you okay? I just broke down crying, asking, are we okay? told me your phone passed away and that you just were out with your friends from some school and I believed you. You never lied to me before or so I thought. The next day I couldn't even get out of bed. The pressure hit me like a truck. You came over to comfort me but something felt off. I tried to shake off thinking maybe it was just in my head. The morning I placed your Apple Watch on the charger. That's when I saw messages from you to your friend from school that you hung out with the day of the wedding.
One said, He was growling in my ear. Another said I had to cover up my spicy kisses like I was in school. Sent around 9.30, the exact time I was crying to you on the phone. When you got out of the bathroom, I saw the marks on your neck. When I asked you, you said they were from scratching. On your way to work, I brought up the messages.
You said you were lying to your friend, that you all made it up. I didn't believe you, but I swallowed it. and I swept it under the rug. Today, I was at your house as your family had a birthday party for you. Your family was there. Some of your friends and our mutual friends were there too, including the one that celebrated you cheating and lying. The house was packed. I drank quite a bit because I knew I wasn't going to have the courage to do what I did. I went to your room to lie down in your bed, saying I didn't feel well. And after some time, I told you I was going home and ordering an Uber. I'm in the Uber now typing this up along with the iPad I gave you. While lying in your bed, I found it, and on it, I
didn't find proof of you cheating. I found everything. The day you turned your location off, you were with the guy you played Call of Duty with. I'm mad at myself for not catching how often you played with him. And you laughed at his jokes. I saw the messages. How you talked for months. And how you planned a hotel meetup the day after he picked you up from work.
how you kissed him in his car, how you told him we broke up, you sending a pic of the spicy kisses he gave you, and guess what? Those messages? At 9.45 p.m., the same time I was breaking down on the phone, and you were telling me everything was okay. How inconsiderate could you effing be hearing someone you claimed you love cry on the phone while you were texting your school friend and him about your infidelity? Speaking of the school friend, I saw conversations celebrating your decision to cheat and laughing about how you got away with it, gassing each other up for lying to me. And there's more crap I found. I found flirty texts with multiple Uber drivers. I found out the ring you said was from your late grandmother was actually from your ex-boyfriend. You
wore our entire relationship. I found messages to him, too, telling him you were single, that you will always love him. I saw more messages with your Call of Duty duo with him saying very spicy related things and saying how nice that sounded. That was the same day I surprised you by coming over to your house for Thanksgiving. I found you sending spicy selfies to multiple men. Some of those photos were from outings that we were out together.
All this crap, and yet you talked about marrying me. You're a piece of crap. Normally, I'm not a petty person, but F it. By the time I press post, I will have already sent screenshots of everything to your friends, the ones who would be ashamed of you, to your family, the ones who would disown you, to your Call of Duty buddies who knew nothing about your double life, to my family, to our friend group, and the crappy friend who knew everything, smiled at my face at the party, and is still there thinking everything is great. Every person who ever believed in us will know the truth. I've never been more disappointed than anyone in my entire life.
You made this bed. Now lie in it. Am I the A-hole for exposing my no-good, cheating-butt girlfriend and breaking up with her via Reddit? This is how he's breaking up.
I mean, I don't know if she would find... I mean, maybe. Because, like he said, she reads about these, blah, blah, blah. How are you supposed to know?
I think you should just do it directly.
Yeah, directly. Agreed. Agreed. Directly. Over Reddit, it's petty and you're really hurt.
Which.
This is a crazy thing to do. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
That's true.
I would do it in person.
Yeah.
I mean, if you don't care about getting the closure, you just want to be done.
He is. He is.
I think he's at that point.
Yeah, but then also like.
Just sending something and then just never receiving an answer on it. Like, and you're just sending it anonymously to, you know, the world.
All right. Update two days later. Out of all the options I had in that moment, the one I chose felt like the smartest. If I had confronted her in private, she could have manipulated the narrative or gaslit me into doubting what I saw. If I had gone downstairs and made a scene, I would have been surrounded by her family and friends, which would have turned into a screaming match where I'm outnumbered. So I remove myself from the situation and let the truth unravel on its own. Just to clear a few things up. We both had our locations shared on iPhone. I wasn't stalking her. The spicy photos weren't noodles. And even still, I didn't send those pictures out. Only the text conversation between her and the
guys she was messaging. Sending those to people is wrong on another level, and I would never stoop that low. After I left, I took an Uber home, grabbed a few things, and went to stay at my friend's place for the night. I felt okay, but thought that's just the adrenaline... And I'm going to crash hard. I've already signed up for therapy, scheduled an STI test, and am planning to take boxing and pottery classes just to keep myself active and focused. Beautiful, honestly. Something to get the rage out and something to make art with.
That's true. Very good outlets.
What?
Do you not like that?
No, I think that that is good.
That wasn't sarcasm. No, I think like getting all the anger out and be like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then like, And then turning to the creative side and being like, I can mold this into my new understanding of myself.
And now I have a cup to drink coffee out of.
Or to cry into. Collect my tears.
While I was staying over, one of her Call of Duty friends messaged me. Turns out the guy she slept with has a wife and kid. I'm not sure how that situation is unfolding, but I hope his wife finds out. That friend also told me she's been removed from their squad. A mutual friend group has shown a lot of support.
One of them even removed her as a bridesmaid from her upcoming wedding and blocked her entirely. I thought everything had finally calmed down until it came back home this morning. I had already blocked her on everything, so there was no way for her to reach me. Instead, she showed up. She drove her parents' car to my house and sat outside until she saw me. As I walked to my door, she came out crying hysterically, a messy mix of sadness and rage. I didn't say a word, Just walked inside and closed the door while she yelled from the other side until she eventually left. Nothing was mentioned about the Reddit post, so I guess she didn't see it. Later that day, her brother called me. He apologized on behalf
of the family. He said everything seemed normal after I left until their mom checked her phone. She pulled my ex aside, trying to keep things quiet. But then her aunt, the one who talks a lot, shouted, You're cheating on your boyfriend in front of everyone? That blew the lid. Okay, auntie. Okay, that's...
With things like this, you gotta keep it kind of quiet. Can't really confront him like that. That's crazy. That's really wild.
I don't know.
Either way it was gonna come out, I don't know what the best way would.
Not this.
What the mom was doing was the best way. According to him, their family has a history with infidelity and it caused serious pain in the past. So this incident not only reopened old wounds... But more cheating scandals within the family were exposed that same night. This party was supposed to be a nice moment for relatives who hadn't seen each other in years. And the friend who celebrated the cheating with her, she got cussed out so badly by the family that she left in tears. Her brother told me he doesn't blame me for anything. He even said I handled it better than most would have and he's here if I need anything. Honestly, the only thing I feel bad about is unintentionally ripping apart a family
that was trying to move forward. I had no idea all of this was going on behind the scenes, and I do feel like an a-hole for being the grenade that set it all off. Update 2, 12 days later. On the health front, I'm clean so far, thankfully. I'm staying cautious and plan to regularly check up just to be safe. I'm also currently looking to move. I don't want to risk her showing up at my place again.
Therapy's been going great. Pottery, though, I still suck horribly, but will still continue to go. I still carry some guilt about what happened with her family. I know I didn't cause the factures, but I lit the match that exposed all of it. According to one of her friends, she's aware of the post. That same friend messaged me calling me a wiener, claiming this was an evasion of privacy, and that I should have talked to her one-on-one instead of going public. I didn't respond.
I mean, she didn't talk with him about going to see other people, so she publicly did.
That as well.
Oh, I don't remember the part where she asked me to go cheat on me with other guys.
Publicly. I'm sure they all were in public places.
It was entertaining. You're just pissed it was entertaining.
There's no way this post was worse than what she did.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. After everything that's happened, I've said my piece. I'm not interested in debating my healing process with people who are enabling her. Right now, I'm focused on moving forward. I like that you also exposed those that were encouraging her. That's really good.
Because you should.
It's just like, you obviously have probably done it too, if you're a fan of it.
Like, no.
You call people out.
Whether you're a friend or a family, if they're doing wrong, you call them out.
And someone asked, is this the same friend who got chewed out and left the party previously? And Opie says, it was not. It was a different friend. She had no problem going public with her no-no square.
Yep.
And it's true.
That is not Victoria's secret. That's everyone's secret.
Ooh. Everyone's got something to say about that secret.
And that's the end of this story. We're going to go on to the next one.
Hey, it's Dakota, your favorite good time boy host here.
We're going to get back to the stories, but here's three minutes of ads from our sponsors.
My partner accused me of cheating until I caught him doing it.
Uh, you first. You smelt it, dealt it. A little bit of backstory.
Significant Other and I have been together for four years, and about two years ago, when the Rona hit, I moved in with him as we both lost our jobs and needed to save on gas and utilities. Since then, I have found a new office job, and Significant Other takes some odd jobs online but basically stays at home most of the time. Significant Other has always been on the controlling side. He wanted me to cut all my male friends from my life. In his defense, he also cut all contact with women, or at least to my knowledge.
SignificantOther has always been very adamant that he doesn't condone cheating, and even if someone else in his life was a cheater, he would cut them out. The relationship has had its ups and downs, but recently things were looking okay for a while, or.
So I thought.
Significant other has become quite guarded with his phone lately, including hiding it if I look over his shoulder. He has never done this before. I am very open with my personal tech. He's always welcome to look through my phone and laptop because I have nothing to hide. We even know each other's phone passwords. My gut feeling kept telling me something was wrong. So when I got up for work this morning while he was still sleeping, I took his phone from the nightstand and checked his conversations.
By the way, this comes from Indiscriminate123, and if you want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash ok story time subreddit.
I'm Savannah. I'm Dakota.
And we're here to talk about some stuff, maybe get some advice, maybe make you cry, maybe, like, make you laugh. I don't know. Who knows what we do here?
But guess what?
We don't have all the answers. We'd only tell you what we would do.
But let us know what you would do down in the comments.
Do it.
As up, he says. Significant other has been chatting with a girl he met online. 25 female? I only skimmed through the last few messages as I didn't want him to wake up and catch me snooping, but they have been texting back and forth every day while I was at work and sending each other noodles.
No, not the noodles.
I don't know when it all started, but I assume it's been at least a month, because that's when I first noticed the suspicious phone guarding behavior. Honestly, no matter how much I look for a solution, there's no coming back from this. I know I have to leave. I didn't confront him yet because I don't want him to try and persuade me to stay or spin it that it's my fault. Here's where I need advice. I have a place to move to, and I have to move all my stuff. I don't want him to damage my stuff to spite me. He has a history of throwing my possessions when angry.
Uh, girl, you should have left a long time ago, what?
What are we talking about?
Yeah, he has a habit of ruining my stuff when he gets mad.
He has this cute little quirk where he'll take my stuff and he'll throw it when he's mad.
No!
So I'll have people come help me move when he's not in the house. We have separate finances, so that's not an issue. The problem is we have a dog. I adopted him with his approval when I moved in. It's technically my dog since I do 90% of the dog activities. He rarely takes him out. Then I buy all the dog toys and food.
Okay, so that's your dog.
Next question. Not even a question. That's your dog.
You said I adopted him.
I know he loves the dog and the dog loves him, but I don't think he'd be able to take care of him and get up at 6 a.m. to walk him. Should I take the dog with me without telling my soon-to-be ex, or should I leave the dog with him? Another thing, should I leave him a note or a message with any explanation? Any advice is appreciated. So, yeah, I don't know. I guess if you don't want to have that conversation, yeah, just leave him a note. If you want to, like, leave him a note, block him, take the dog for sure.
110,000%. I'm going to take that dog.
Especially if like he hurts your possessions out of spite. You do not want him to hurt that dog. So take the dog with you so he can't do anything. You do everything for it anyway. So go home, take the doggy and run.
Yes.
I mean, if you want to leave him a note, yeah, leave him a note or text him or something. I would leave a note just and, you know, then you could block him if you don't want to have that conversation. Personally, I think you should have the conversation. But if he's going to be If he's going to be aggressive, dude.
Then you don't want that. Then just leave a note and leave and block him and be done.
Update.
First, I'd like to thank everyone who commented on my previous post. One particular comment stuck out to me that my pet doesn't know what's best for them and they could roll in literal crap and be happy, which really solidified my decision. As a preface, I'd like to apologize. I was paranoid that I could be found out, so I altered a couple of details in the original, one of which was that we owned a cat, not a dog. However, I was still doing 90% of the caring for the cat.
You liar!
Same deal. Still an animal.
Still your cat. Take the cat.
After making the decision to take the cat, I called my best friend, her boyfriend, and my parents to tell them I'm breaking up and discuss logistics. It took me quite some time to put everything in motion, three weeks to be precise, in which time I was doing my best to act like everything was okay while secretly moving some of my stuff to my parents' place to ease the final load. Finally, last Friday morning, best friend, her boyfriend, and my dad came. We loaded up everything on my father's truck and left. The whole ordeal took an hour and a half. Wow, not bad. I took everything that I paid for out of my pocket, including a monitor and a headset that I lent him due to his equipment breaking. The only thing I left was a queen-size
bed I bought shortly after moving in. I also made sure to log into X's World of Warcraft account to cancel his subscription, which was paid from my bank account.
Dude, that is the biggest red flag I've ever seen in my life as a former World of Warcraft just degenerate. You got to pay for your own supply.
You know what I'm saying?
I left a note on his desk that basically said, do not panic. You have not been robbed. I just took all my stuff and left. I'm taking the cat with me because I don't trust you to take care of her properly. Do not call me, my friends, or my family. We have already had the talk, so there's nothing else to say. Have a nice life.
Your ex.
Sheesh.
I wouldn't have even had to say, like, because I don't think you could take care of him. I'd just be like, I'm taking the cat because it's mine.
Dang.
Dang. That's crazy.
I mean, good for you, but like, woo.
I didn't tell him I know about the cheating because at this point it was irrelevant. I blocked his number and never looked back. Sure enough, he messaged me on WhatsApp as soon as he came back to the empty flat. The gist was that we could have done it the civil way, LMAO. And why did I take the cat this way? We raised her together and he loved her.
He also tried to call three times but gave up soon after. I then blocked him on WhatsApp as well. The next few days were pretty uneventful. Yesterday, he showed up at my workplace unannounced. I didn't want to make a scene in front of the colleagues, so I took a break and went out with him to the park across the street. He said he wanted closure and that I owed it to him after all these years. The conversation was mostly boring, so I'll highlight the important details.
He said he wanted his, which is mine, monitor back and that he's willing to pay for it or trade me his new one. which is better, but wasn't with the same curve that he was used to. I told him that I like my monitor and tough luck. The best part is he went out, bought a new monitor, set it up to play World of Warcraft, but realized that I also took the headset. He then asked his mother to buy him one and she bought headphones without a mic. Pity. He asked to have the cat back.
He offered me money, offered me all his crypto savings, and even offered me 60k gold in World of Warcraft LMAO. The fact that he has more money in World of Warcraft than like his actual life is crazy.
It's just pathetic.
I told him some things can't be bought with money. He then asked to co-parent, and when I said no, he asked to at least say goodbye to her in person, also denied.
No, it's, when are you, just tell him. Oh, this is, that you're even doing this. Tell him he cheated on you and to leave you alone.
I brought up that I'm the cat's primary caregiver and he can't even clean her crap. I also pointed out that if he really loved the cat that much, he'd want the best for her and to be with the one who takes care of her instead of wanting to keep her for selfish reasons. He kind of agreed on that. The most baffling part, he offered to pay me to go grocery shopping together. I pointed him to a couple of sites where he can buy groceries and have them delivered.
He said it was too much work. Is this guy like seven or like he has to be under 16?
He's got his mommy buying him headsets. He doesn't. He doesn't know how to grocery shop?
Which, to be fair, I struggle with that, but I wouldn't ask my ex who just broke up with me to grocery shop for me for money.
That's absurd.
I told him to adjust and evolve.
Yep, basically. He also apologized.
One too many times for hurting me, to which I replied every time that I wasn't hurt. I was just disgusted at the conversations I read, to which he got offended and mumbled that it was private. Not once did he mention the side chick. Even then, he didn't have the balls to admit to the affair. I brought her up a couple times, told him I wished them both the best, and since I left in the bed, he doesn't have to worry about effing in the janitor's room anymore. Dang.
He asked to be friends multiple times. I told him also multiple times. He betrayed me, and he's a pathological liar, and I don't want to be friends with a dishonest person. He legit couldn't comprehend how his dishonesty impacts a potential friendship. He said he wanted to tell me he wasn't committed to me anymore but couldn't bring himself to do that.
I pointed out the hypocrisy of him blowing up at me for platonically talking to male friends online but cheating the moment a semi-attractive woman comes his way. He said that a woman cheating on a man is the greatest sin but a man cheating on a woman is not so severe.
What the actual F?
The rest of the conversation was him trying to play buddy buddy and me reminding him that he's a closed chapter to me. After what seemed to be an eternity, we said our hopefully final goodbyes and I went back to work. In conclusion, for the past week since I left, I felt like a huge load has dropped off my shoulders.
I'm working on myself, I'm reconnecting with people I haven't talked to in years, and I don't regret anything.
You must be a real sweetheart to take care of this baby for however long you guys dated.
Update two.
A bunch of things have happened since I last posted, and I figured y'all might appreciate how Karma's caught up with my ex.
Uh-oh.
Disclaimer and some background. I left out a lot of information in the original post and altered a lot of details to make sure X did not find the post. Our real ages are 28, him, 33, me, and 34, side chick. X and I were together for almost seven years, not four. X had a chronic disease, nothing fatal if treated, very manageable, and a lot of people with the condition can work. He was, of course, using it as an excuse not to work and mooch off of me. Got it, so he's like on disability.
Yeah, but his girlfriend's the one paying it.
We lived with his mother, who was supporting his narrative that he is too sick to work. My last update ended with X coming to work to offer me pixel money for my cat. This was in August 2022. I thought everything was said and done, and I would not hear from him again. Since the breakup, he has messaged me about every three months on Discord for various BS, like how he lost his best friend or asking for photos of the cat. Sometime in March, I found out by chance that he's still using my old League account.
He has been banned on three different accounts for toxicity. Dang, you gotta get that leak account back. I gave him the password while we were dating, but I did not think he would have the audacity to continue using it after we broke up. It really rubbed me the wrong way that he could message me with his woe is me crap on four different occasions, but conveniently forgot to mention that he is still playing on my account. I wondered for about a week whether to let it slide or just change the password. Then he contacted me again about wanting to ask me something. I shot this down and reminded him that I explicitly told him not to contact me. He said, okay. This lasted for a fortnight until he messaged me again saying that he will ask
his question regardless.
Oh my god.
I mean, this guy knows no boundaries, nothing.
Loser.
The question was, what did it feel like to be with a complete monster for seven years? Why did you stay for so long? There were a lot of crocodile tear-laced explanations that followed. The gist of it, that he was doing some reflection, realized he is a complete lunatic and needs help, and apologized for how he behaved. I also found out that he spent all his savings and disability money, including the crypto he offered me for the cat. Also, to nobody's surprise, his little affair did not work out.
I did not ask for questions, but what he said was, I think I finally met a person who is more sick and broken inside than me, which is.
Quite an achievement.
Wow. Wow.
Wow.
So his life went down the crapper.
Good.
That's what he gets.
It's almost like it's some sort of karmic justice.
A few months prior to this revelation, a World of Warcraft friend from the side chick's country messaged me. Friend knew my side of the story, and when he found out that side chick was flying to my and X's country, he put two and two together. He told me he does not expect much from their relationship since a year ago, the chick was dating a mate of his, broke his heart, and flew somewhere else for the next World of Warcraft guy that gave her attention. Knowing these facts, I mentioned to X how it was ironic that he cried cheating if I was five minutes late after work, but decided to involve himself with a woman who was practicing cheating as a sport.
Guys, I'm not going to lie.
That is like if you have a partner who is constantly accusing you of cheating when you've done nothing wrong, like if they have like past like trauma about it, like it could be a conversation. But like if it's just a constant thing, you should not be in that relationship.
He agreed it was quite ironic and that he had to lie in the bed that he made. Also, did I mention he was too dumb to wire his own debit card to his World of Warcraft account, which is why he could not play anymore? Well, yeah, but I guess also because he lost his sugar mommy that was paying for it and failed to secure another. As for me, Kitty and I are thriving. I am active, I lost 12 kilos since the breakup, and I'm getting back in shape.
I have reconnected with most of my friends and explained why I hadn't contacted them much in the past seven years. They were very understanding, and things have gone very much back to how they were before. I have also met the most decent, kind, and compassionate man out there, so.
Life is looking good. Okay, Opie. You're getting a new man.
Yeah.
I mean, to be honest, anything is an upgrade from that guy.
Well, Opie.
You got a good head on your shoulders, and I think you're doing all the work necessary in order to get back to where you want to be. So kudos to you, and I wish you luck.
And that's the end of this story.
