Reality with the King is hosted by me, Carlos King. I'm an executive producer who have produced some of your favorite shows from the Real Housewives of Atlanta, New Jersey, and my own creation, the Love and Marriage franchise and Bell Collective. Every episode, we recap reality television from the Real Housewives franchise to The Bachelor or Selling Sunset. in addition to celebrity guests, whether in the unscripted space or scripted as well. All right, raindrops, the time has come.

Now look, I am known for loving all the girls, but guess what? I'm actually talking.

To the girls.

Yes, the hit series on Hulu, a Khloe Kardashian project. And today I'm here with the beautiful Khadijah and Iris.

Thank you for having us.

Love you. Love you.

We got the girls.

This is our first interview after the show's aired.

Oh, yeah.

Well, I love an exclusive.

So we need your POV.

Yes. What did you think?

How about we do something I've never done on my podcast that I have for four years.

Okay.

You ladies ask me the question.

What did you think?

Oh, I love the show. I texted Dane Joseph, who is the Hulu executive.

I mentioned it two.

Days and I literally said to Dane, first of all, great job.

I love the show, blah, blah, blah. And I said, but honey, where's the rest of it?

I had FOMO. That's a really good sign.

That's a good sign.

And I feel like you're biased because this is your space. You produce, you create TV shows.

That's a compliment.

Well, here's the deal.

This is my wheelhouse when it comes to unscripted shows. Obviously, my success doing Atlanta Housewives, Jersey, my own shows, Love and Marriage, and own Bell Collective. I understand reality television. I've been doing this for 18 years, you know, stating back from my days at Bravo. So when it comes to female ensembles, I see things with my producer eye that I think a lot of the audience are unable to see. And that's the reason why when it comes to the two of you, my girlfriend Malika isn't here today because I texted her. But I wanted to talk to the two of you for sure, because I felt like there's context that needed to be explored because there's no freaking professionals.

And I'm like.

We felt the same way, by the way.

Yes. It was a shock to everybody. It was. But I think that it played out the best it could, right? I feel like— I think what they wanted to do was do something different in the reality space. And the fact that the girls got to be that first experience— I feel like it's been received pretty well. But, you know, anytime you bring the new to the forefront, you never know how you're going to be received.

Yeah, but let me ask you this, Iris. How challenging was it for you? Because one thing we know is the fact that you ladies did tape confessionals. You know, one thing that I did enjoy was at the end of every episode, they kind of gave us a taste of it, of the confessionals.

I was kind of happy that they added the little blue thing.

Yeah. It was cute.

But Iris, starting with you, was it hard for you to watch the season knowing that, and again, this is my producer eye as well. I know for my talent, having the confessionals allows them to give a context to scenes that aren't edited down. Like the example would be you girls in Las Vegas, right?

Yeah.

I've been to Vegas. You know, like, that's hours and hours and hours of footage. That's condensed to five minutes.

Yeah.

The confessionals allow some context to be proven and shown.

Was that hard for you to not have that?

It was. I understood what they were doing with the trying to make it different, but it was really hard for me personally because I'm the only girl that's never been on reality TV. So I think You get to see more of the other girls from previous shows or you have more an idea of who they are because you've seen them before on TV. This was my first time.

So for me, I was like, people aren't going to understand if I'm sarcastic, if I'm funny, if like the context was really missing for me. And it was really hard. It was when they told us that the confessionals were going to be taken out. We had already filmed like four episodes of confessionals. So there was only two.

We were done.

So I was like, yeah. wait, like even in the scene where me and my fiance and I'm like, he's talking to me about the wedding and I'm like laughing. I'm like, oh my God, people are going to think I'm just a B-A-T-C-H to him. But like, I have a nervous laugh, you know? So I'm glad they added that blooper like in there. But if you didn't have that, they'd be like, why is she laughing at him? That's so disrespectful. But you know, and then I'm a little sarcastic sometimes, but people don't know my, they don't know my tone. So it comes off as like, Is she blunt?

Is she this? You know? So I feel like for me personally, if you had already seen me on another show, you'd be like, oh, no, that's how she is. But because this is their first impression, I was like, ooh, that's not going to be great for me.

Well, Khadijah, for you, obviously you're no stranger to being on television. You and your sister Malika have been in movies, ATL.

You've been in the entertainment business for a long time.

Yeah.

How did it come.

To you that this show was something that they wanted to explore?

Were you like, yes, immediately?

Because your sister Malika, the reason why I know her, we did Hollywood Divas together.

You came to the reunion. I did.

She has an infamous moment where she's cussing somebody out in defense of her sister.

Always.

You know, like that's Malika for sure.

Yeah.

But for you, were you reluctant to join reality television just based on, I mean, you did the dolls on E!

And all that other stuff.

Yeah, we did Dash Dolls.

Dash Dolls. So like, was this, did you have any apprehension?

Well, I think the reason why maybe the last time I've done a reality show was 12 years ago and that was Dash Dolls is because you get presented with the opportunities, but every opportunity is not your opportunity, right? Right. every reality show isn't something that you want to be a part of. I think when this idea came to us, we were actually all together at Chloe's house. It was Tatum's birthday party. And I want to say it was Natalie.

And she was kindly just like, you know, we all get introduced. We've all gotten introduced to ideas about new reality shows. Iris has been offered other reality show opportunities as well, but we just didn't We could all kind of sit there and go like, yeah, I've been offered to them, but I wouldn't do it. So it's like, well, if these are people that you know, that you genuinely call your friends and Chloe's going to spearhead and be your EP, it felt like the safest bet. And, you know, I think for a lot of us, we're all businesswomen and putting on our entrepreneurial heads. There are things that we want to do. Why not do a show together and kind of show all of those things?

Iris, you are probably the one, like you said, that the audience is now getting to know. So do me a favor and explain your backstory because you are a.

Bossy, empire.

chick that is doing amazing things. You know, the girls concept is obviously a lot of you girls are either friends with Kim, Khloe, and I think in your case it's Kylie. So explain to us your backstory and how you and Kylie became really close.

So I started my lash business, which was my first business. And that's how I got introduced to the circle. I was doing everybody's lashes and that was my first business. I then invested in other business, one being a medical spa called SevLaser. We have over like 70 locations.

Wait, seven zero?

Seven zero.

Yeah, 70 locations.

Nationwide.

And then I just started investing in a lot of women-owned businesses. I come from immigrant parents. And I just like the theme of my life has really been against all odds. And I have just like figured it out. Um, I was raised as you see in the, in the little bit that you see in El Salvador, like by a really strong woman. And I feel like my culture is a big part of like who I am, but I am really resilient. And this was my year of like, yes.

And being uncomfortable. And I do a vision board every year. It's so crazy. I actually do it with Kylie every December we do it. And this last December I had put on my vision board, like God make me uncomfortable because we had sold a, a, percentage of our business of Sev Lazer. And, you know, you get comfortable. And I was saying no to a lot of projects. And actually, I was going to do another show with Chloe. And Natalie and Olivia were like, oh, we want to do a show. And I was like, wait, why don't you guys get on this show? And then we were like, wait, no, we should just.

Do our own show.

What show was that going to be with Chloe?

It was Behind the Gates, the Calabasas show. So I was going to be I was going to be a part of that. And then then Natalie brought it to Chloe and she was like, yeah, let's just I feel better you doing the show with all of our friends that know each other than I was going to do the other show with some random other cast, you know. Um, but I just think it's so funny how I put it on my vision board. Like God make me uncomfortable.

And I was like, this is the year I'm going to say, I said yes to having my own podcast. Yes. To reality TV.

Yes.

To a movie. Eva Longoria put me in a movie that comes out next year. So this was my working uncomfortable year.

And.

Yeah, I'm a little uncomfortable. I'm not going to lie. You know, like it's, it's, It's good. It grows you, you know?

Yeah, listen, I will say this.

And when I say this, my audience knows I don't lie.

Like, you're meant to be on reality television.

100%.

You think so?

Yes.

I've been saying that to her through and through. She was probably very sick of my mouth because my mom never stopped.

Her and Malika.

Yes, we double teamed her. But I would always say to her, like, listen, you're a superstar. And just not in your own right, with your backstory, where you come from, what you've been able to do, your successes. Even, like, I look at her and I admire her so much. Like, she's already been through a divorce. She's been through things I'm going through now. And she takes everything. on the chin and she's still successful and she's still loving and she still has a great personality. So I'm just like, that's something, that is television, babe. But when not, when you're not in that seat and you've never experienced it, sometimes you just, it's, You're timid. You don't know, you know?

Yeah.

And listen, I do want to talk to you about this. This has been the first time experience for you doing reality television as a producer.

Yes.

When I watch you and you and my girlfriend Malika, I'm familiar with Olivia Knapp from their previous show.

Yes.

And I'm familiar with Nicole based on watching Wax Miami. But when it came to you, what I appreciate about you was the authenticity.

And I never felt you were playing up for the camera.

So I always felt like this is who she is. Some people obviously see things differently because you are so upfront and you are so blunt. When it comes to some of the feedback that you have received, people thinking you're mean, you're a bully, whatever.

You are too harsh on Natalie. Calm down, girl. You're doing too much.

Has that affected your confidence based on the reception the audience has?

No, because I think, honestly, the next day, and like me, Malika, and Khadijah are like in a group chat, and I'm a little sarcastic, so I was going to respond and be funny, but I was like, oh, they don't really know my personality. It's going to just go even left. So I was like, let me just, tone it back and not say nothing but for me if you've ever met me if you've ever had a conversation with me if you've ever like had an interaction in person not just what you see what you see that's been edited down you'll know the type of person I am so for me I was like if it was people that knew me Saying stuff about me. It would bother me.

Like the people that I love. Oh for sure. But everybody. Even from production. Production was in the comments. And I was like. I was laughing. And some of my friends.

And I was like.

You guys. Let it go.

It's okay. And they love you.

And they love me. And I'm professional. And I like. I have a good heart. And I'm not going to defend myself. With people that don't know me. They're going to have their opinion. And I knew that this was. Part of like. Going on TV. And having thick skin. And like. I knew that. I actually thought they were going to go. More in on like. my relationship or something.

I told them, I'm like, oh my God, everyone's going to think she doesn't want to marry him. And I'm like, it's just, it's okay for me to take my time. Like, why do I have to, you know, just go off of what everybody else thinks? Like they don't live my life at the end of the day. And I have to live in my truth and my purpose. And what matters to me is the people that do know me that have had the interactions with me. You know, like I'm the type of person that talks, I talk to everybody.

I'll be in the elevator. I'll talk to the most random person. Like I'm a people person. I love people. Like that is my thing.

Well, that's what I was watching as well. So I, listen, I knew that by you being so vocal that, listen, this is my wheelhouse. So I knew that the audience would be split in terms of the reception. But I just wanted you to hear from me that I saw you being authentic. And even when you and Nat had the back and forth, prior to the show, you even said like, and I want you two to explain this.

And Tim, if I got this.

Wrong, I always felt that it's Chloe has her set of friends. Kylie has her set. Kim has her set. And that, yes, if you girls all together, then we're all together. But I just felt that when it came to Nat and Liv and Khadija chiming in too, that.

You guys.

Aren't as close with each other because of the different sisters who sort of are part of the friend group.

Yeah.

So do you feel like when it came to you and Nat specifically, and obviously you as well, were you surprised?

Because I was.

I was shocked how sensitive Natalie was.

It threw me.

Um, based on what I saw you being sarcastic, like, oh, you're an Aquarius.

What bitch?

I don't like Aquarius. I'm like, like we talk.

And that got taken so out of context. Like one of my best friends is an Aquarius. So like that got taken so out of context, but. Yes, I was surprised. And me and Natalie have never had problems prior to this. And even while we were filming, it's natural conflict. Like, it's when you travel with somebody. By the way, Vegas was the first time we've all traveled together, okay? Also, working with people, like, you just see people in a different light, and that's okay. Like, everybody is different. She is more sensitive. I am more tough.

Mind you, can I interject for a second?

Yes, please.

She didn't know how sensitive she was. So imagine we're all in this new scenario within our friend group, but now we're shooting a show together. Now you're noticing that like, oh, if I say, oh, bitch, please, like that hurt your feeling. Like, you know, like I didn't know that before. It never would have hurt your feeling. You're crying. I've actually never seen you cry. You're crying again. So it wasn't that she would speak like, oh, you're crying again. She's just like, what is hurting your feelings so bad that's driving all this emotion? So there was a lot of new on both sides. And me, they call me Switzerland, but I'm in it. I'm in it, but I'm not in it, right?

I'm outside looking in, but I'm very much in it. And I'm looking at both sides and I get both sides. But for me, it was like, wow, we are learning the lessons and we are learning them in front of these cameras. They are going to love this. Or they're not, right? That's the way it goes. Like, you're going to win some, you're going to lose some. Everyone is not going to love you. And I don't really even think that's our objective.

We really... are, like, people pleasers, but to the people that we love and trust. Like, you know what I mean? Like, we want those people to love us. We want our viewers to love us, of course. But, like, you can't win them all. And you're not supposed to fake who you are in order to, you know?

I think that's the thing with me. It's like, I can't fake the funk.

No.

Like, I just, you'll see it all over my face. Like, I cannot fake the funk.

Not a requirement.

Also, I just feel like I'm not for everybody, and I know that. Or, like, even my relationship, like, the Vegas thing, I'm like, I do have boundaries in my relationship. Like it works for us. You know what I mean? Like it's, it's, there's a difference between having guys in your table and on your table.

Like there's just, or literally standing on the booth, like on your table.

But like also too, like if I'm taking time to go bond with my friends, like I don't want to go hang with 10 other guys like that's not fun to me that's disrespectful to my man and that's okay you know like that also the rules we were being funny about the rules at the table and then no one told me that they invited the guys to the section after so I was a little confused but you don't even see that like all the context you don't see that But there's just so much you don't see because it is edited down to four minutes or five minutes, you know?

And that's because, you know, it's got to show a middle, a beginning, and an end, right? We're storytelling at the end of the day. Everything is not going to make it. Again, I think that's a part of her learning lesson. I think that's a consideration for people that are just watching. Like, fair, have your opinions. But, like, there's always so much more to the story, right? So it's like, enjoy the story for what it is and kind of, Try to have a little grace for us along the way because we're doing it and we want to love doing it. We want to have people love us, but we also understand you can't win them all.

When it comes to that, you know, when I watched the show, there were conversations about there was this group chat that all of you girls were in. Now that the show has aired, is that group chat with the six of you girls activated?

It is dry.

It's dry.

It's dry.

It's dry.

Unfortunately, it's dry, but I also feel like time heals. That's one of my mottos. It heals and it reveals and we'll just see where we end up. I think we put something great together. So I'm patient. I'm leaning on the positive that we'll jump right back where we left off.

Our kids go to the same school, though. I did see Natalie this morning. It was the first day of school, you know?

So our lives are really intertwined.

Did y'all hug?

Yeah.

Okay.

It's not war.

It's not war.

It's not war.

I can say that.

You know, our Nobu premiere... We had the best night ever.

We had the best party.

I wish that was filmed.

All of us had the best time.

Because.

Together.

I was seven martinis. And when I say we had the best night.

Man had a blast.

We had the best night that me and Troy was like, are you ready to go? I'm like, no, I'm having the best night ever. Didn't you leave and come back?

We left and came back.

We left and came back.

And came back.

I was like, this bitch is having the time of her life. We have to come back. And like we had, when I tell you the funnest night, the funnest night, all of us together. All of us together.

Together.

It was a real celebration for what we've done together. And I think that at the end of the day, that's the thing that matters the most. And that's where you stay. us come together because it is our lives.

And we wanted a good show. And I think people are talking about it. People were entertained. The amount of people and industry people that have messaged me like, this is good. It was juicy. It was entertaining. And I'm like, great. Like, Thank you. That's what we got hired to do is to give you an entertaining show. So the fact that you, from a producer point POV, from like, you know, a talent, like, you're like, I was entertained. I'm like, that makes me feel good.

I was happy.

Yeah, she FaceTimed me.

I know you would be honest.

Okay, girl, what's tea?

And I'm like, no, I'm here for it. And listen, Based on what's happening now, I think.

Hi, Hulu.

This is the reason why we need a second season. Because as a viewer, we want to see the girls come back together and try to figure stuff out.

Because, look, it's sort of like the Kardashians.

When you see Kourtney and Kim... physically get into it yeah and you know this having a sister you want to see the resolve like it was nice to see the resolve with the sisters and listen this is what you guys said this is the reality and what i want the world to know is that look reality sometimes is not pretty you know this going into it because listen you and malika obviously are twins and you guys are best friends Seeing you on this show, be so honest about, unfortunately, your 13-year marriage ending.

And going through this divorce.

Yeah.

And having those conversations with your sister. Talk to me about that moment you and Malika are in the living room.

And let.

Me tell y'all something. In real life, Malika... Don't play no motherfucking games.

No, ever.

So as her friend, I'm watching this. I'm like, that's Malika.

Yeah.

You know, giving you tough love, but it comes from a place of like wanting you to be the best version of yourself.

Yeah.

But talk to me about that moment where you left the house, you're crying, and Khloe has to call you like.

I spoke to your sister. Yeah. You know, but talk to me about that.

This is what happens. I mean... I think that's another thing that was revealed were things kind of coming to a head. Naturally, I've been in a rebuilding season. And from the day I left my marital home with my children, my sister was there that day. She has been there every day since for myself and for all three of my kids. And she doesn't get a break. She doesn't choose to have a break. So I feel like we all got to watch Malika implode a little bit. We got to watch her kind of hit her peak of having to watch her sister go through something that has obviously been very hard for me and my family, but, you know, especially hard for her because we're twins and we're very close. And what happens to her happens to

me and vice versa, you know? So I feel like I was able to put myself in a seat where it was like, this is going to be vulnerable, and I'm going to have to share one of the greatest fights of my life in front of the world, and I wouldn't choose a better suitor than my sister to be next to me because her armor is heavy. But she also knows when to go, enough is enough, and that's maybe not my strong suit, you know? And she is, because she is my protector, and you know that, she's going to be the first one to go, enough, not mine.

Mm-hmm.

And now she's like, and not my babies. So I appreciate that while it's tough conversation. And Chloe says the same thing. You know, we love Malika because we know that that's what we're going to get from her. We know that no one can treat us or do anything to us without her going, excuse me, I love you and you don't deserve that. And let's, let's, she's a problem solver. That's the other thing. She's not a person that's just very opinionated about your life that you choose to share because She's a solution-based person. She's going to go in the trenches with you, does she not? And be like, this is what we're doing. And I mean we're because I'm with you and I'm with you. So I think while that was a harsh reality for me,

it was one of the greatest blessings that comes from our relationship because my sister puts a battery in my back to be there for myself and to stand on my own two feet and to also continue to do that every day for my children.

You were married for 13 years. Most women would stay in a marriage for that long when they have young children.

Yeah.

What made you want to file for divorce and leave that situation?

In a nutshell, I believe that you can outgrow your relationship, marriage, friendships, anything of that sort. And I think when you just ultimately don't align... on what you want for yourself or what you want for your children. I think it's your right to make that decision. And I am a mommy first. So I think my decision was to choose the best life I believe I could give my children while I have struggled to do so. That is my reality. But I also come from a place, the grand scope for me is, I was a full-time wife and a full-time mother.

Everybody saw Malika still chasing a career. I was at home making babies. In the course of 10 years, I had three. I don't regret it. That was my choice. But that became my full-time job.

You gave up your career for your marriage.

In a nutshell. I mean, the acting space can be fickle, right? You're employed one time, and then, you know, it could have a dry spell and you're not. But I chose to change. give my career a backseat. I wanted to be a wife. I wanted to be a mother. And I've done just that. And I'm so thankful. I love my babies. They are the most important thing to me.

And that is the greatest thing I take from my marriage. And I think now the greatest fight is to provide the best life for them. And that requires them to have both parents play ball. That's it. That's the only thing I want for them is because They've had a certain type of life their whole lives, right? Like, we love our children. We try to give them the best educations.

They've had a private school education that I've been able to afford for them because somebody else was taking care of everything else. Like, I believe still that their lives have changed. They shouldn't have to change too much, right? Everybody should still support them. Listen, you divorce or you break up with spouses. You don't divorce your responsibility to your children.

And that's my fight.

This is Reality with the King. And I'm Carlos King. Let's get back into the show. Okay, so let's talk about that really fast. And I would love to get you to chime in, too, because you obviously went through a divorce. We saw it on the show. But the blessing that we're seeing is the fact that you and your ex are friends.

Yes.

And you still are co-parenting along with your new relationship. When it comes to you, obviously, unfortunately, you're... Court documents have been revealed all over the blogs in terms of your financial status. Look, you read the comments. People think Khadijah, you know, look. What was happening? You're Khloe Kardashian's best friend.

You are Malika Hawke's sister. Why do you need this man to provide for anything? Can't Khloe give you money? You're making money.

Off the show.

The comments.

Right? We see that you're.

Soon-to-be ex-husband is countering the spousal support that you are requesting. What do you say to people who feel like, listen, is this a gold digger situation? Is this a woman who is trying to get the pockets of her, you know, ex-husband? What do you say to people who really do believe that why are you fighting for something when you're the one who filed?

Well, I didn't file for divorce. He did. for the record. Yes, I separated, but he filed for divorce. So I have a firm stance in finish what you started. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether him and I are together or what we agree on. He has his side of the story. I have mine. And the truth lies in children have to eat. Children have, you know, their responsibilities, needs, necessities, and their own little wants that I believe they should never go without. So it's meant me sacrificing and struggling along the way. And this is, granted, what everybody's getting is like what's happened over the course of three years, right? I'm not where I once was.

I'm blessed to have this show as an opportunity. But that doesn't change that I'm going to do my part as a parent and that someone else has to also carry theirs. So A part of what you see in the show is just kind of the driving force to go, well, if we can't figure out just us amicably, we've tried that for too long. That is putting a strain on me when I am solely responsible for the children. So now we have to let somebody get involved. That's really where I am with it.

Does it bother you when people look at you and they just assume like, you're Chloe's best friend.

You should be rich. I think it's weird. Khloe gives you... I think that's weird.

I should not count your home as pocket.

Somebody else's money.

But I'm sure you've seen this. People really do think, like, doesn't Khloe give you an allowance?

That's weird.

That is.

And then to your point, that... then I look at the blessing that is like, and then my best friend was also able to create a show where I can make a payday that most people don't make in a year. Like, you know, like, so it's like, so what.

Side of it are you on? In five weeks.

Right.

It's weird. And I've also continued to get up and have odd jobs that people don't know about. I am a hustler. I come from a mother that raised five kids by herself. I know the cloth and what it takes, but I also know that I didn't get here by myself, right? So if it's just a moment in time, then everybody is seeing what the moment in time has been like for me. None other business, but I also know, I was advised legally, it becomes a public document, right? I don't have anything to hide. This has been my truth.

And at the end of the day, yeah, maybe I don't want my kids to have to see it play out like this, but I'm a little hogtied. My back's up against the wall and it has been for a while now. And so I want to finish it. I want to finish it. I want to move on with my life like everybody else does. I want my children to be happy. I want them to feel like they have everything they need from everybody that should provide it.

And that's it.

No, I think it's disgusting when the world judges women for choosing themselves. And I think it's disgusting that we live in a world where Women who desire to be a mother, that's a full-time job.

Yeah.

And when you are the wife of an athlete, that's another full-time job with the preparation for what that means. And the fact that you're only divorcing the man, you're not divorcing the responsibilities.

Right.

And I wish people can separate the two. And understand that, look, and I was chiming on this one because what advice do you two give women when you are going through a situation like this and you want to be able to be a full-time mom, but you also have to make money for your children so that you're not in a situation where.

You have to go to court for the man to do his responsibility.

Yeah.

Like, I watch the show and I read the comments and I'm like, what Khadijah is slowly doing is saying, we both have these kids.

They, I don't want their life to change so much.

Yeah.

Based on their parents not being together.

Yeah. And you made the choice to... put your career on the back burner to be a mom. And as a boy who was raised with a mother that was a housewife, you know, I have nine siblings.

There are 10 of us. I am who I am.

Yeah.

Because my mother made.

The sole sacrifice to choose her children versus her career. And that's why all 10 of us have careers of our own because our mother made that sacrifice. And it bothers me that people don't see that. So Iris, even for you, like, Does your strength and your ability to really, like you say, like you are this like boss woman of the empire.

Did a lot of that have to do with the.

Fact that, you know, we saw you coming from immigrant parents. Yeah.

I love the moments of you and El Salvador with your parents.

Yeah.

Did a lot of that come to the fact that post-divorce that you were like?

No. So I was like, I always loved to work. The minute I was 15, I had a little job. I've done everything. Pinkberry, Crocs. I used to work. I couldn't wait to work. Like, I was in high school and I used to tell my dad, like, I can't wait to work. Like, it's just, it's in my blood.

It's the hustle.

I used to have him take me to go buy hot Cheetos at Smart and Fine and I would sell them for a dollar. Like, it's always been in me. And I never wanted to stop that. Even when I got married, like, and every partner that I've had has known that, like, she's not going to stop. And I wanted to be that person where I'm like... I can be the mom. I can be a boss. I can help my family because for me, it's like, that's, that's what I'm carrying. I'm like, I need to help my family, like my brother, my sister, like everybody, you know? So I'm the one in my family that's like beating the odds.

So for me, I feel like it's a personal thing, but every woman is different. Like, I love the women that are like, I don't want to work. I just want to be at home with my kids, you know? Great. For me, I have a balance. Like I don't, it was so important for me to be an entrepreneur because I didn't want to miss my kids' school events. I wanted to be a super present mom, but I also still wanted to chase the bag and have money coming in, you know? And so like, I'm the person that encourages, like, even when I got with Troy and like, you know, I, I got around all the basketball wives and I, I'm friends with a lot of them. I'm the one in their ears, like, okay, let's invest something for you too, just in case. Like, I'm always that person because I

really pushed that because you just never know. Um, what can happen, you know, like nothing is for sure. And I really push that like women should also have something for them. And I want to say something about Khadijah because the whole gold digging narrative, like let's kill that. She works multiple jobs, you know, like that's the craziest statement that people have made about her because they, they, her and Malik are truly very much hustlers. Like they are about their babies and their business and, You know, it's grind time. Thank you. And we're really on the grind, like all of us.

And I think a lot of that, and it's not to defend anybody because people will always have chatter. I think it just also comes from just the lack of empathy for like other people and their lives and the stuff you don't know, right? We put ourselves in front of these cameras and I've been doing that my whole entire life. So I get it. You have the public piece and people think that they know I'm not so much worried about that. I tell you this all the time.

I don't do comments. Because it's not people that know me. They don't know my true heart. They don't know my space. They don't know my peace. I am blessed to be where I am. I'm thankful for that. And that has to be my focus because I still have to get up and have the right mind and a functioning mind and a healthy one to do what I have to do, which is carrying three children on my back. up a hill.

That's been really, really hard for me, but I can do it and I'm capable of that. And so it's like the chatter along the way is just something that I'm like, oh, okay.

And I think that's the thing too. I think people don't think that we're actually busy. Like we shot this show in five weeks. We only had one or two days off. We were shooting eight, nine hour days. Personally for me on my two days off, I was shooting the podcast. I was launching a brand. Like it was It was so chaotic.

It was crazy.

Like, so chaotic.

We would look at each other sometimes in between scenes and go, I'm so tired.

But people are like, they're not that busy. I'm like, are you guys okay? Like, we just shot a whole show in five weeks, okay?

No, I remember seeing her one scene we pull up together and— And she looked at me and she was like, bro, I'm so tired.

I've been up since 5.30. She was like, I had.

No idea filming a show was like this. And I said, well, I think because people just get to see the finished product. They don't get to see the, you know, so it's like you kind of want to be, you give grace to what people don't understand. It's just when they try to go at you so hard in the personal space and it's like, well, don't do too much in that area because that's the piece you don't know too, you know?

It comes with the territory.

And I also, listen, I don't think the audience also understands the mental work it does to film.

Like physically, yes, you got to be either exhausted, but The audience.

Will never understand mentally having to be present, have conversations, be in these moments.

And there's cameras in front of you.

And yes, you're ignoring the cameras, but it's still in your peripheral.

There's a demand.

You know, and the mental gymnastics you have to do. That's why even in the finale, when you and Nat were trying to, you know, like, just have a resolve.

And it just wasn't getting to that point. And you were like, fuck this.

Like, I'm not trying to, like, have this be something where I'm the bitch.

Like, I'm not doing that.

Well, because with Natalie, and I will say, I really wanted to have a conversation off camera because I didn't want it to be weird on camera. So I had sent her that text, which she says in episode, I think it's five. But we never got a chance to speak off a camera. So that's why when we were speaking, I think it was, it was rough. It was a buildup, you know? But yeah, like you're, the cameras are on all the time and some people are more aware because they've done it before. Some of us You think the camera's not on you?

And we're having side conversations. You're still mic'd.

Your mic is on. And then they use that.

You know, it's a lot, though.

It's the game, you know?

Yeah. No, listen, I'm fully aware of it. So I want to get to you and Troy. First of all, the ring.

The rock.

I need to clean it, but he did a good job.

Okay, so....

What's the status of you and Troy?

Because you know what he's doing.

Do I say it now or do we wait for season two? Do we think there's a season two? I don't know. I love it. Give it to me.

Gotta give it to me. Are you engaged to be married?

A hundred percent. Those are always my intentions. And I love my man. And he is such a team player.

And he's fine.

And he's fine. And he's such a good dad. He's such a good present dad to all of his kids. And we're in it for the long run. And we have a plan. And we're not going to rush our plan for nobody.

When the audience saw you set up live with your ex-husband, you know, some people thought it was weird. I thought like, okay, like, listen, I thought to myself, it shows that she's like, we're all family.

Like, listen, the thing is, I don't think people understand either. Like we're really good friends. Like, Troy and Steph text each other all the time. We were just all together this morning. Like, we do holidays together. We've done New Year's together, Halloween. Like, we've done trips together. Like, we're really good friends. So, and yes, Steph has dated other people, but it hasn't been serious enough for him to introduce Ayla to. Because that's important. And Olivia being one of our friends who also, like, She thought by this time she'd be married and have kids and she's going to be a great mom. Like I literally said this to her.

I thought it was a genius idea.

So I loved it.

I was like, why?

The older we get.

This is genius.

And they kissed.

Yeah.

They were vibing.

Yeah.

By the way.

I think they probably always had an eye.

By the way.

And she picked up on it.

Period.

Well, let me ask you this.

To Khadija's point, did you pick up on some subtle vibe that made you say, try this out?

No, I didn't. I just think Olivia's stunning. I think she's going to be the best mom. And also... We set them up on one date. The dates after that was on them. So they were clearly vibing. You know what I mean? Like the kiss. Nobody told you to kiss.

But didn't, but Steph said it though. Like she asked at the dinner.

They are each other's date. Like didn't you guys, like did.

You ever think of me like that? And he was kind of like, yeah.

She's a beautiful, she's stunning.

She's gorgeous and she's sweet and she's funny.

And she's like whoever gets her.

I'm telling you, he won the jackpot. So that's why I was like, great. Why not staff? It keeps it right here.

With our family. And you get an A-line?

When we get older, the dating pool gets smaller. You know, like all my single friends are like, I don't know where I'm going to meet a man. I don't know where I'm going to meet a man.

Our dating pool is smaller.

So I was like, hello, there's two single people here. Let's just give it a try. And then we're all one big happy blended family. That was my thought. I didn't think it was weird at all. But everybody has their own opinions.

Are they still like seeing each other or?

No, I think they just, they kept it friends, right? Yeah. Yeah. I think they just decided. I think Olivia like genuine.

For Ayla's stepmom.

Yes. Maybe that's the next show.

Right. That's a spinoff of the spinoff. But no, I thought that was so interesting.

Just seeing that you were so cool to do that.

But that's why I got your humor.

Like, I looked at you and I was like.

She's interesting.

I'm so chill, by the way.

I'm, like, very sarcastic, too. So it's like.

But it's funny, though.

But it's funny. But, like, people that don't know me, you wouldn't get it. You know? So, like, you have to get to know me. You don't know me. And one season wasn't enough.

Yeah.

Well, that's probably on the second season.

Speaking of people not getting to know you, I did ask your sister Malika this on my podcast years ago, and I wanted to ask you this. You know, there is this perception that the Black community have of you and Malika.

Not all, but some.

Okay.

In terms of the Valley Girl Boys, you know, are they whitewashed? You know, are they, you know, are they in the Black community in a way that they understand their community better? And I wanted to ask you that because, listen, what we know about you is your soon-to-be ex-husband is.

A black man.

Mm-hmm. I got me some black babies.

You know, you got some black, okay. You know what I mean?

But I'm sure you've heard the conversation surrounding that.

I mean, I think it's been trickled a little bit over the years, but I also think that people think me and Malika are from Atlanta. Like, I don't think that people really pay attention to like, no, that was acting. I had to practice that accent. This is how, we were born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, right?

So I think that ignorance goes, you talk like a white girl and your best friend happens to be one. I think it's like you just kind of circulate and like make this weird. It just, it doesn't stick. I come from a black mother that is proud, that has always taught me history and heritage. And I'm doing the exact same thing for my children. But we go, I put them in schools that look like United Nations. I want them around everything, right? I want them to love everything, and that's exactly how I am. So it's like I wasn't born in the South.

You know what I mean?

And I have a little bit of everything. My family is black. That's it. But also my family is white, purple, pink, green, gray, salvy. Like, you know, it's everything for me. Me and Malik have never been a set of twins you could put in a box. Maybe that's because they can't understand it entirely, but there's no— whitewash. I think that's so ignorant. But that's just my perception.

No, it is.

No, it is.

I would never say that about anybody. What is it? You sound educated. Well, my mother was a school teacher. We weren't allowed to use slang. It was E-R. And you're like, I got corrected if I said something wrong. Like, you know, so I think it's a makeup and we come from a world or a reality even more so now.

Our best friend being Khloe Kardashian. But this is how I was when I first met her when I was 16 years old. You know what I mean? So it's It's not to answer or to even try to defend that, but I think hopefully that helps the narrative.

A little bit.

I don't know.

Listen, I think it's crazy because.

One thing that I know about you girls is the fact that you guys are so real. And that's why I was so happy when I learned that you guys were doing the show, because I do think there is such this gross... misconception about you two that I'm like, I know them in real life and you guys just have it, you have it all wrong.

But at the same time, like, look on one end, I get it.

If I can, if I only pay attention to what I'm watching or being shown, but you got to dig deeper in terms of like really getting to know somebody before you make ignorant comments.

And that's just what it is. It's what you don't know. But I, you know, again, mommy first. I am teaching my kids not to put people in a box and to view one person one way and to assume anything or to stand on judgment because of that. But that's also the way of the world. So I can't tackle that. I won't even attempt to.

Are you in the.

World of possibilities trying to like date?

Not yet. Not yet. I feel like I'm a person that wants to cross the T's and dot the I's. And I also don't know.

I mean, I don't know.

Do guys date people that are still married?

Yes.

I mean, maybe just on paper, but, you know.

Yes, they do. And they do. Okay.

But I also just feel like this new phase of my life, I call this my new world, like, it's going to be interesting for me because I don't see myself easily introducing my children. Like, they're amazing. You got to earn that. And I don't even know what that would look like for me, right? Like you go into marriage and creating a family and having a life and looking at that being the end all to be all.

So now that I'm sitting in my new space, rebuilding myself and rebuilding a life for me and my children, I don't know what that's going to look like. He'd have to be really amazing, though.

I think this. I think this. And please chime in, Iris, because you know what it's like to go through divorce. My advice to you is this. I think... Have fun. I don't think trying to look for anything serious.

No. I think going through something for 13 years, just a marriage partner, even dating prior to that. I want women who are going through a divorce who have children. My biggest advice, and yes, I'm a gay man saying this, but I have a lot of female friends, right?

I want more women to choose them. Yeah. You know what I mean?

God, I love you. I literally say that all the time because men do it all the time. So why does it feel wrong when we choose us too? And I think like, there's a weird stigma.

There's, there's, we're.

So judgmental on women about everything. And like, It's hard for women like we have to do. We wear multiple hats all the time, you know. But I think like when you're freshly divorced, too, it's when you're not looking when it happens. You know, like my biggest focus was my daughter, my work, me making like self-care.

I'm a tourist.

So like self-care is like big. I'm at the spa once a week. I'm doing everything. Like, that is a priority. Because if I don't feel good, if I don't look good, if I can't function, I can't be the best version of me. So, like, Troy knows, like, it's really important for me to have my support into me.

You know?

And I know I'm important to you, too, baby. Go golf. Go do the thing.

You have to.

You have to feel good and do things.

And you know how they say happy wife, happy life?

One thing I will say, don't underestimate the intelligence of your children.

Yeah.

Because I know when I look back on my childhood, my fondest memories is when my mother was in her happiest state.

Yes. And I remember that as well. Like I said, my mother raised five kids by herself. Our parents divorced when we were really young. And I watched all of the phases. I didn't even realize. And I think that's so much why I broke down crying even on the show with my mother. Like I thought generationally I was doing something different. I didn't want my kids to have to live in a broken home or visit dad and then visit mom. Like I didn't want that to be their reality. But I think That's just it. We don't always get to choose. I believe God has something else in store for me and my children. And as long as I'm being the best version of myself and I had the blueprint of that, then I think we're going

to be just fine.

Yeah, and Iris, does Troy have any single friends that you can.

You're a great matchmaker, babe.

We've explored... Most of his guys are married.

Okay, well, good for them. Yeah, well, good for them.

Okay, they're off the table, off the market. We gotta find somebody. Are there any, like, good black men in Calabasas in the San Fernando Valley area that I can hook my girl up with?

I don't know.

I don't know.

We got to figure this out, Iris.

Get in the comments, please.

Carlos King. We got to figure this out. You're a good matchmaker.

If there's any single black man who are gay that's open that you know for me.

Oh, I'm just going to start.

I'm going to create an app and it's just going to be like a legit matchmaking thing.

The good picks only.

Make some good picks. No, listen. You're good at this. You're good at this. Now, look.

It's another business for you.

Listen. I love it. I love it. I love it.

Matchmaking.

I know you're worth millions, babe, but we don't mind another set of millions for a new business.

She's not stopping.

3 a.m. I text them ideas all the time. My mind just, it doesn't shut down. Like, Troy, something's like, babe, like, come on.

Unplug.

Yeah, and I'm like, I don't know how to unplug. It's okay.

Don't do it. Don't do it.

Keep going.

Keep going. That's what you do.

You keep going.

It like fuels me. You know, like my kids make me happy. We were fishing two days ago because before my kids went back to school, I was like, let's go fishing. So we were fishing randomly.

I love that.

And I took a call and the girl wanted to see my face. It was a business call. And I was like, sorry, I'm fishing with my kids. She's like, I love this. I was like, this is my office today. But like, I love that. Like that makes me happy, you know?

No, we want to see that.

And my kids know that. My kids, I'm like, mommy's going to take the Zoom.

Working.

You know, they know that.

So look, before I let you girls go, we have to do this. Okay? Oh, no.

In the event, there's a season two because I'm going to start a petition.

Okay.

So Hulu, Khloe... Check your email.

So, Carlos King's petition is this. I want a second season shot immediately. School has started. I need to see them, you know, picking up the kids at the school and having a conversation.

I need to.

See Khadija being set up on dates.

Oh, goodness.

I'm going to get Malika and Justin Sylvester to do that, too. And then I need to be able to have the girls have confession notes because I need to see what they're thinking, you know, in these moments.

So we can help with some context. Putting it out there. Okay. So with that being said, starting with you, Khadijah.

Yes.

If we are blessed with a second season, what would you like for the world to see from you?

I guess it would be, listen, I came to the table first season given exactly where I am. And I'll give the exact same thing. Like I'm hustling. If I'm not flying all the way to Dubai to try to learn the real estate there, like I'm going to keep throwing darts at the wall. And every penny eventually reaches a dollar. And my kids cost a lot. So I'm going to keep going. That's it.

Yes.

Okay. Iris.

I think I want people to see more of like the business side of me. I just launched Seba and like my kids, I think like you don't really see, you didn't really see our kids that much season one, but like there's so much with our kids, you know, and all of our kids have big personalities.

So they love each other so much.

The business. And there's also like conflict within businesses and, you know, other drama, not just within the girls.

Yeah. I think that was the highlight and that's why it was so jarring for us. But like, there's so much more.

To see.

So I think it would be a blessing to get a second season to kind of show, you know, context.

There's more than the five minutes everybody's seeing. You know, there's a lot that wasn't shown. And unfortunately, when you have six cast members, you're not going to be able to highlight on everything that you would like to highlight. We're also not the editors.

Right. Yeah.

Well, look, I will say this as the king of reality television. Come on, King. You know, listen, honey.

Come on, King.

You know, I'm just saying.

I want to thank you two in addition to the other girls as well, because in this day and age, in the age of social media, it is a very scary time to be on reality television where you are giving so much of your life. to the show and to have to be subjected to a lot of commentary where people, look, they're going to say things that aren't the nicest, but I would encourage all of you guys, right, but I'm talking.

To the two of you, To continue to just be yourself. Yeah.

And I promise you, and I know you hear this all the time, but I've been doing this for almost 20 years. I work with Nene Leagues, Teresa Giudice, like the best of the best in the business. And the one thing I can say to the two of you so clearly is authenticity will always win. If you go into a situation worried about this person going to think that, I don't want people to think that, you're going to lose immediately.

It gets very convoluted.

Yes. But if you go in saying, I can stand on that in this very moment, I felt this way.

Yeah.

And I can watch it and say, uh-huh, I saw myself that way. And now I'm like, okay, not my best moment. But I'm here to say in that particular moment, that's how I felt. Not making excuses, but that's how I felt. And I would love you guys to have the reunion. And I would like to host the girls' reunion.

Oh!

So I'm just saying that, you know, put myself out there. Drop that bomb. Drop that bomb. But no.

That would be actually great.

I think we'll have some fun just saying. But listen, I love the show. I love you too. And I want you girls to win. Okay. So Raindrops, catch the girls on Hulu. It got to number one in the most watched of the week. We want you all to watch it. So please go Hulu, watch all six episodes, and make sure to hashtag the show and let us know your thoughts. You can find these beautiful ladies there on the app.

So we'll see you next time.

Thank you so much.

Bye.
