Hey, this is Carly.

And this is Dakota, your favorite OK Storytime hosts. And we've got some great stories coming up.

But before that, we have a quick two minute break from the sponsors that keep the show alive. Welcome back to OK Storytime. I'm Sophia.

I'm Riley.

And I'm Savannah. And today's episode is all about the wildest ways that people found out they were cheated on.

Oh, I think I got cheated on when I was 16.

What?

By who?

My girlfriend. She wanted to see if her friend still liked her.

That's really unfortunate.

Yeah, it was.

But it's not that crazy. I'm sure these stories will be crazier.

Okay, he was 21.

Oh, that's really bad. That's actually terrible. No, it's illegal. But wait until you hear these stories, Riley.

Please tell me.

We've got a guy whose girlfriend's affair partner passed away and her own family expected him to grieve right alongside her.

That's a lot to juggle. We also got a story about a bride who found nudes on her husband's phone after he cried every single night for two months.

Well, that's really embarrassing for him. There's also a story about a groom who got rejected at the altar in front of his entire village and didn't find out the real reason why until her father showed up on his doorstep months later.

Bad time to get married. Yeah. Buckle up because we got another story. On top of all these great ones about a guy who found out his girlfriend was cheating with her best friend's husband after a suspicious sleepover.

Aye, aye, aye. Those are some pretty intense stories. Let's get into them. My girlfriend's affair partner passed away. Her mom demanded I have some sympathy. That is horrible. I, 25 male, am in shock right now. My relationship with my girlfriend, 22 females, started to become strained after the birth of our first child.

Dang.

I found out during dinner with her effing parents. Her phone started going off like crazy. It was from her friends, and they effing knew. She left her phone at the table to grab her coat after all the effing waterworks. She was effing some dude called Andrew.

Oh, I hate Andrews.

And it started recently.

No!

Recent enough for me to doubt that the child she carries is even mine.

Oh.

I mean, that would make it a lot less complicated.

Oh, that DNA test, I guess.

I broke her phone when she tried to grab it from me. Her parents threatened to call the police on me. I left with my son. I don't want her in my life. I don't want her to be involved with my children's life. I am so effing angry right now. What should I do? By the way, this comes from a shamed strain. And if you want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash okay story time subreddit.

And we're here to give good advice goofily, but we don't have all the answers. We only know what we'd do. So let us know what you would do in the comments. And Opie says, edit. I want a relationship with my children and not her. I can't be a father long distance. Her boyfriend is brain deceased.

Oh, so he's still alive.

Yeah, they usually take you out of life support if there's no sign that you would ever improve.

Never mind.

Her mother told me to have sympathy. F that. My life is ruined. Yeah, shut up. Don't be like, you should have some sympathy. She just lost the man, the second man that she also loved, along with you.

She's going through a breakup right now.

Yeah, that's crazy. Oh no, it gets worse. Edit two, most users are assuming I am a US citizen. I am not. Once my contract is up, I'll have to leave the U.S. How on earth can I be a father if I can't even be with my children?

Oh, man. Deported?

I mean, maybe not deported, but he would have to leave if he doesn't have a marriage.

Okay, so a step above being deported.

I think it might be a little bit easier for you to apply if you've been living in the country and your kids are citizens. Yeah, I feel like you'd be put more priority.

Yeah.

Edit three, I picked up the dang phone out of curiosity. Holy crap, they went crazy when they tried to take it from me. Edit four says, phone is still with me. I'm taking screenshots. I paid for it by credit card, my name on the contract. And edit five, okay, I'll get some therapy.

He's going through everything right now.

Yeah, he's like, okay, I'm gonna maybe have to leave the country. Yeah, I'll get therapy.

Yeah, okay.

Edit six, waiting for it to return before I do anything. Need to video myself leaving my apartment untouched and in peace for my own safety.

Update.

So I just spent Valentine's Day with my ex. Talked about how we are going to get through this as adults.

Whoa, this is a total 180. She's making this work.

I guess so.

Probably because he still wants to be near his kids.

Yeah, I mean, that is such a tough thing, you know, if OP has the possibility of maybe having to leave the country. Yeah, very tricky. I'm still hurt, resentful, and unsympathetic to her plight. But hey, we have a kid. Yes, I am the father to my son. A DNA test confirmed it.

Oh boy.

She wouldn't agree to a test for the baby until it was born. I'm trying to play good cop, bad cop here. I don't think she's on Reddit. But legally speaking, I'm literally effed when it comes to custody. I can't go into the details. Her dad eventually collected my son. He wanted his mom, and the phone was also returned.

It only had a cracked screen. The phone isn't a massive issue. I might reveal why later. Unlike my employment, residence, and immigration status.

The world is against you, bro. Just the United States.

However, I am advised to make a non-binding agreement with her on custody out of court if possible. Yeah, I mean, the second that you enter court, it would not probably go well for OP because of the citizen stuff.

Dude, those lawyers.

Yeah.

Waiting to take this case.

Yeah.

It would definitely be better if you did this outside. The days after my predicament at dinner, I found myself constantly juggling my emotions whenever I met my ex and drinking a lot lately. It's been a rough week with all the texts and calls. Firstly, when she came to collect the rest of her belongings, I had already packed her crap in bin bags. I made it known she was trash.

There you go. Tell them, Opie.

Mm-hmm.

You had a bunch of her stuff in trash bags and then wrote on it, this is you. I got into an argument with her friends and her male friends clearly intimidated me. Her girlfriend suggested I marry my ex and live separate lives.

What? So you can stay? What life is this?

That's insane.

What?

Her girlfriend is like, well, maybe you should just stay. You should just marry her and then you don't actually have to be together or.

Yeah, this is what they do in kingdoms. Separate bedrooms.

Well, I could understand because of the immigration laws.

Yeah.

Like, I get that, but then it's like. But would she even do that?

Yeah.

Where is she getting this advice from? What the F Reddit? I had to threaten to call the police because they wouldn't leave. All on video. A total crap show. Secondly, she wouldn't budge on the fact that I was the father of both her children. We agreed to a few private paternity tests on our son. and that test would be carried out post-birth. Her attitude this entire time has always been remorseful, maybe because she believes that I'm abandoning her, and the fact that Andrew's gone. Her life is crap, but that's on her. Andrew was engaged. Oh, bro. Oh, I feel so bad for his fiance to simultaneously find out that your partner is gone forever and also.

Cheated on you. They're both double-dipping. Get one dip, and you have to dip there forever.

One dip. Keep dipping. And from what I know, his family are not pleased with this little surprise. I can't say I pity her, although it is the worst way to get caught cheating. She explained her relationship with Andrew, and I totally feel like a second string backup. She tried to tell me that she always loved me. However, it's over between us, and I don't love her anymore. Finally, Valentine's Day, the worst I ever had. I thought I would have spent it alone or with a Tinder date.

The ex-girlfriend turned up without asking because she wanted to talk.

Oh my gosh.

We went to the place that I had reserved for us weeks earlier. Oof, you didn't cancel the reservation?

It probably had a cancellation fee on it.

Yeah, two weeks earlier though.

Oof.

And it was such an awkward experience. Got home to another round of major waterworks and drinking. She literally begged me to stay with her and to stay for the kids. I tried to press the idea of the kids living with me eventually. We agreed to some relationship counseling so that I would have a mediator to negotiate custody.

Dang, this is just a hot pile of trash.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Do you have any final thoughts about this lady and this situation?

Honestly, this is kind of traumatic. I'd rather ask you. What's your favorite fun dip?

Flavors?

Yeah, your favorite Fun Dip flavor.

I don't even remember. What were the flavors?

I know Savannah has one. What is it?

Blue Raspberry.

Blue Raspberry. There you go. You know what?

Actually, I think I like the blue one.

And you would stay with that dip for the rest of your life, right?

Yeah.

And that's how it should be. That's how it should be. Dude, just the levels. God, I don't know why, but I'm feeling like this woman has a loaded family, so they're just going to back her up. And the fact that they were able to back her up so quickly.

Yeah, I mean, they already are on her side and saying, well, you should feel bad for her.

Like, what kind of relationship, OP, did you have with your wife?

I wonder what kind of relationship OP had with her family members. You know, was it good? Did they never really like him?

True, true.

But we got a little bit more. She even tried to sleep with me again when I was in bed. Like, what the F? No, I get a spray bottle and I go, like, back, back.

Yaw, yaw.

I started shouting at her because she's stressing herself out. Sea levels increased overnight as I slept on the couch. She cried through the night. I can't lie. I can't believe I'm still attracted to her after all this. It's a crap feeling. Well, you know, it just happened.

That's your wife.

It's your body. This was your wife.

Well, not your wife.

Girlfriend.

Oh, girlfriend.

Mother, children. You know, it makes sense. It's time for me to look into how I'm going to co-parent with her. I need to avoid this going to court. My ex isn't that stable right now, but I need her to cooperate with me. Edit, Andrew, 28 male, and my ex have had an on and off relationship before I was in the picture.

Oh, so the family knew about Andrew.

Yeah, they already knew Andrew and liked him probably.

And the family probably sees Andrew as a family friend, but probably didn't know about them going back and forth behind Opie's back.

Yeah, so it was like losing that person that they knew.

Yeah.

That makes a lot more sense.

That makes a lot more sense of the reaction of the family. Dang.

Yikes.

Sweet dips. Guys, what's your favorite dips?

Guacamole. Guacamole.

All right. Well, we got a story. My husband cried every night after the wedding because he was cheating.

Okay. You don't get to cry about that. I.

32 female, married my husband, 31 male, at the end of June.

My birthday.

My birthday. After eight amazing years together, we basically live with each other from the beginning. Our wedding and honeymoon were amazing. We have always gone along, made each other laugh. We're going to start a family and we're happy. The fact that you can make each other laugh is a huge thing.

Yeah, that's so big. I'm sure it helped them so much.

Or so I thought. About two months ago, we were cuddling on the couch. And I felt something wet on my chest. At first, I was like, you babe, you drooled on me. Only to realize he was crying. In eight years, I've only seen this man cry when our dog passed away. Oh, dang. That moment cracked everything open.

He admitted that he was unhappy and the floodgates opened.

Oh, dang.

We didn't have enough spicy sleep. We have complete opposite work schedules. So we get about an hour together once a week. and then Friday afternoons and Saturdays. Even with that, we were having spicy sleep at least once a week. He said he didn't feel loved. He complained that when I was about one year into the relationship, I tried to move us to another state. He was angry that I didn't want to have a baby at 28 before we were married.

This guy's got a lot of grievances.

Yeah, and the list goes on and on.

Oh my gosh.

Remember that one time I cooked you pasta and you said, It needed a little bit more salt.

Yeah, and remember another time when we were walking and you stopped holding my hand because you needed to press the button so that we could cross the street? Um, yeah, these are stupid reasons.

I worked my butt off for the past two months to fix all the things that were wrong with me. Communicated better, initiated spicy sleep, bought and read all the books on saving marriage, got into therapy, got us into couples counseling- Still, he would cry every single day. And every time we tried to have spicy sleep, he couldn't get it up for me and blamed me for it.

Dude, how are you going to blame me? That's your problem.

Yikes.

It's your body.

Well, with that, if you're trying to blame me for it, I'm going to go to Amazon, buy a little pee-pee pump.

Yeah, I don't need you.

And I'm going to pump that thing for me. It takes about 15 minutes. You'll be fine. And you'll be good. I learned that from a comedy show. I was worried about his mental health. His job is really dangerous and stressful, and I worried he was depressed. By the way, this comes from Character Buyer 1068, and if you want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash okay story time subreddit, and we're going to read the story goofily.

We're going to talk about pumps and all this stuff. If you have anything you'd like to add, please add down below. We love solutions. Then, My therapist asked if he was cheating. Then his mom and sister asked me the same thing.

Oh, dang.

They pushed me to look at his phone. I didn't want to violate his trust. It ate away at me. So finally last week, after he got home, laid his F, I checked it. What do you think was in there? How old do you think she was? I'm thinking milf age.

Yeah, this is a 60-year-old woman.

Hey, hey, hey. Just because the wrapper's a little wrinkly don't mean the candy ain't sweet.

Riley, 2026.

It was all right there. For months, this man has been having an affair with a bartender.

How old?

All of their messages were about how much they love having spicy sleep with each other.

So boring.

Spicy pics. The same selfies he would send me, he would send her. They were telling each other how much they love each other so much. I even saw her mention my name a few times. I confronted him. He admitted he loves her, but that he loves me more.

No, you don't. You don't love me at all. That's why you cheated on me.

I love you more.

Yeah, no, that's not how that works.

You get one dip.

Yeah, you can't say that you love someone more and then cheat on them. Like, that's not how that works.

I tell Angie I love her more and don't cheat on her. There we go. I kicked him out and moved all his stuff out. Left for town a little while to be with the family. We've talked a few times. He's insisting it was a mistake and that he would take it all back. But he's not groveling. Not trying to make amends. Won't answer any questions about her. Doesn't have any immediate plans to cut things off with her.

We've been trying for a baby for months. We're planning a life. I know he's known her for years and since he wouldn't answer me when I asked if it was happening since before the wedding, I assumed the answer was yes. So Reddit, is there any possibility of salvaging this? What's my best move? Thanks so much. Okay.

Okay.

So if we were to salvage it, one, it was going to be for the laughs and the laughter, but the part that really makes it, it won't ever be a thing that he says he doesn't, Love you anymore. He said something like that.

Well, he said no. He said I love you more than her.

No, no, no. He said something earlier before he like.

Oh, before he took that back? When we talk about salvaging, let's kind of use an example here. If a house burns down, you could maybe salvage something there, but you'd have to rebuild from the ground up. And sometimes it's just a little easier to buy a new place.

You're right. Sophia was correct. He admitted that he was unhappy. That's when I'd be done with them. Fun fact, houses have rooms in it and bathrooms and all these other things you loved in your first house.

Yeah, it's true. You'll find the same stuff that you liked in the old house, in the new house, and better stuff. It probably has a hot tub at this house.

And a pool table?

And maybe heated bathroom tiles.

Oh, dude, don't even get me started on heated bathroom tiles.

I would love heated bathroom tiles.

I don't think I'd care for those.

What? You don't want heated bathroom tiles? I don't really care. Why does that matter?

Yeah, I don't think I'd care for it.

Okay, you're getting out of the shower. You're a little cold. I don't get out of the shower until I'm warm. Why would you get out of the shower cold?

Facts. What? She's going to try to prove you wrong. Don't get into this with her.

I will be like burning hot. And then I will get out. And then I'll be like, oh, it's so nice and cold out here. But you're getting out of the shower wet, yes?

Yes.

Okay, I thought you were drying off in the shower.

Sometimes. No. Update. To clarify, we are not having spicy sleep anymore or trying to have a baby. We were trying for a kid for months before I found out about the affair, which was about a week ago. I packed all the stuff, changed the locks, and redecorated a bit to make my home feel like mine instead of ours.

I know for a fact he has some sort of sports poster somewhere in the house.

She's just going to take it down. It's only one sports poster. That's the only thing of his.

That she redecorated.

Yeah.

She threw it in the trash. I got tested a few days ago and I'm waiting for more results. All have come back clear so far. Edit. Today was his birthday and I ignored his messages.

Good.

We'll post updates as soon as they come.

I think Opie's doing the right thing.

Yeah, please don't go back to him.

No, you don't need to. Think about the heated tiles metaphorically in your next relationship.

Ladies. Ladies. What is heated tiles in a man?

Ooh.

What is a heated towel holder for a man?

So this is something that is not necessary but is a bonus. And this is our individual thing that's not necessary.

With sesame seeds on top of rice. I'm thinking about what.

Was not necessary in my boyfriend that was a bonus when I found out.

Update two. It's been over two months since all this went down. Today, I'm just about four and a half weeks and no contact with him. Nice. Things blew up when his girlfriend reached out to me wanting to commiserate with me about him being a wiener.

The audacity. I'd be like, girl, I don't want to talk to you. You blew up my life. Get out of here.

Blocked her, blocked him, block, block, block. When I asked what the plan was, Having me and a girl on the side, he said, I hope you would get pregnant so I would have a reason to stop.

Wow, that's actually a crazy sentence to say. If you got pregnant, I would have stopped. Oh, would you though?

So it was her fault. Like everything else in this relationship has been.

Yeah, he added another thing. Also, I so strongly doubt that the guy who said, oh, we weren't having enough spicy sleep when they were already having it once a week. Probably would have gone down if she were pregnant. Just because when you get pregnant, you know, that can happen. He would have been like, oh, well, now we're having even less spicy sleep.

Yeah, that is the premium time for men to cheat. So. And that he thought life with me would be mediocre.

Yikes.

Bye. Since we've broken up, I've traveled, been in therapy consistently, worked out regularly, been on a few dates. and spend more time with friends and family. Oh, yeah. Thanks all for the love and support, and we have an update eight months later. Oh, boy. Any predictions?

I think OP's going to be doing really well. I think that she's gone on a trip to Europe, and she's found her new man that has heated floors and towel warmers.

Big hands. Any predictions? I'm thinking Switzerland is where she went.

Yeah, she went to Switzerland. Really? She found a Swiss man. Well, I would say she moved, got out of there, and now she's living on a beach town.

Beach town.

Beach town.

Update. Hi, Reddit fam. I cannot believe it's been eight months since I found out my ex was having an affair. So I figured it was time for an update. Yay! First and most importantly, we are not together. Yay! We haven't seen each other since January. Yay! And I can be confident to say there will be no reconciliation. Yay!

And here is possibly the most unbelievable plot twist of this entire story.

Oh?

He's gay.

This whole time he couldn't find any satisfaction with any woman.

We found out Our marriage was never legally filed. What? How did you?

That's a huge twist.

That is a huge twist.

She's like, well, I guess I don't have to divorce you. We're not actually freaking married.

What?

Cool beans. Okay, well, I'll just carry on.

The paperwork apparently got lost in the mail and never made it to City Hall. Wow. And before you say it, because I know I truly did not think He tampered with it. I personally dropped it in the mailbox at the post office.

So it's your fault.

You should know it's your fault.

Everything's your fault.

This marriage. After eight years together, a wedding, vows, honeymoon, everything.

Well, it wasn't a legal morning.

I walked away without even needing a divorce. Wild.

That is pretty crazy. I will agree with you there.

He paid me rent. through the end of our lease, and still sends me money occasionally. Okay.

Okay. Kind of like a, I'm sorry I cheated.

A little nice 500 bucks a month would be pretty neat.

That would make me feel better.

Maybe 300. I'm like, I can always get myself a little something special every month.

I wouldn't take them back, but it would make me feel better.

In the month or so, after everything blew up, my ex went back and forth a lot. He asked me to get back together. He asked me to run away with him.

Where?

He talks about eloping and still having babies together because they weren't technically married. Yeah. At one point, he told me he had ended things with this affair partner. I told him I don't hate myself enough to ever get back together with him. I also told him to go unend things with her because maybe he could repair that relationship.

But there was absolutely no repairing our relationship.

Heck yeah, girl. Tell him. Tell him.

Eventually, his affair partner reached out to me because apparently she wanted to commiserate with me about him lying to her.

That's insane.

Blocked. My ex and I went more than four months completely no contact. When a family member passed away, he used that as an opening to reach out. We've spoken a handful of times since then, almost entirely about logistical things. We did catch up a little bit once, but the second he started bringing up the past, And asking why I couldn't meet his needs, I ended the call. It's all about what you can bring to the table.

Yeah, yeah. Like, he still doesn't get it. It's still him, him, him.

Me, me, me. What could you do to fix that with him? Brain surgery.

Yeah, I was going to say.

Were you going to say brain surgery? Yeah. Dude, look at us improv-ing. That was actually a pretty important moment for me. Eight months ago, I would have immediately started explaining myself, defending myself, or wondering what I could have done differently. Now I heard it for what it was. Him still trying to make me responsible for choices he's made.

Life is pretty much imploded after we broke up. He moved in with his best friend, who eventually kicked him out. And last I heard, he was living on his parents' couch. The truly wild part is that as of Easter, he was apparently still telling his family that we were together and that I was just visiting family when I wasn't showing up to family events.

Yikes. That's embarrassing for him.

Then in July, he randomly texted me asking whether I had told his family we broke up because he people were starting to ask him questions.

Dude, you dummy. Maybe they just started to figure out that your wife never showed up to anything.

And that's what it was because Opie says, I had not told anyone.

Yeah, yeah. I think that people just aren't stupid like you, dude.

Yeah, why are you sleeping on your mom's couch and where's your wife?

What's going on there?

After a few months of that.

I haven't seen her. I haven't seen her in like a year.

People come to conclusions. Which means this grown man apparently made it more than half a year without fully owning the fact that his relationship had ended.

That's so embarrassing.

And those who did know were upset with him for how he did me dirty. He's lost friends over this and is mad at me for it. As for the affair partner, I believe they still may be together. But I genuinely don't even know. I asked everyone close to me not to give me updates about either of them. When I wrote my first post, I kept asking, why did he marry me? I thought if I could just understand it, maybe I can make peace with it. I understand now that there probably isn't an answer that would ever make sense to me. He made selfish, cowardly choices.

That is the answer. Something else I had come to terms with is that the affair wasn't the only thing wrong with our relationship.

Yeah, I mean, he gave you a list.

Right? Yeah.

What do you mean? How do you not know? You don't remember that. Keep up.

It's another one. You're never listening.

Jeez.

Add it to the list.

With some distance and a lot of therapy, I can recognize patterns that I normalized over eight years that were emotionally harmful. It's like getting earwax cleaned.

Out of you.

You're like, oh, oh, that's what it was.

It hurts, but when it's out, it feels great. My sister explained to me using the frog in boiling water analogy. If you throw a frog into boiling water, it jumps out. But if you put it in cool water and slowly turn up the heat, it doesn't realize what's happening until it's too late. He didn't wake up one morning eight years ago and suddenly started treating me terribly. It happens slowly.

A critical comment here. A nasty joke there. Comments about my appearance. Texts with girls that just crossed a line. Things so temperamental and moody that I walked on eggshells. Meanwhile, my life has gotten so much bigger. I've stayed in therapy. I'm probably in the best shape of my life. I've traveled.

I've poured energy into people who show up for me when my life completely fell apart. I have a new nephew now. Nice. And honestly, he's been one of the biggest blessings to come out of this year. I think the nephew... She's wanted a kid for a while.

Yeah. She can be kind of like the second mom auntie.

Yeah. A way to pour into a child's life. I think that's what was missing with her.

My aunt's never had kids, but Sam and I were, we were basically her kids.

Fair. Opie says, I'm also dating someone. Tell us about this house. Is he Swiss? Does he have a, I don't know, house sauna? He's kind. He treats me well. And I'm intentionally not putting some huge, this is my future husband pressure on the relationship.

Smart, smart, smart.

What I do know is that this experience completely changed what I'm willing to accept from a partner. I'm not going to mother a grown man. I'm not going to beg someone to communicate. with me. I'm going to choose someone who chooses me. Eight months ago, I genuinely did not know how I was going to survive losing the life I thought I had. Turns out, I didn't lose my life. I got mine back. Bars!

And also, like, what a sign from the universe when you are, you know, experiencing this, you get cheated on, your husband is awful, and you're like, I just want to divorce him, but this is going to take so long, and then you find out that you're not legally married. Like, what a sign from the universe that you are going to be okay, and then you're just going to move on from this.

Honestly, bro. That's huge. That is absolutely huge.

Big wins. Big wins. Hey, it's Carly, your favorite Jersey girl here. We're going to get back to the stories, but here's three minutes of ads from our sponsors. She rejected me at our wedding. The whole village blamed me for it.

Well, you probably shouldn't have given her the ache.

Trigger warning.

Mentions of loss. I, 21 male, was orphaned around six years old.

Oh, dang.

In March of 2019, after a horrific car accident where my whole family was unalived.

Oh my god.

At that time, I was in a two-month relationship with my now ex-fiance. And she stood with me more than anyone else did. And her whole family took me in as one of their own. But especially her father. He treated me just as he did his two sons, if not even better. And I loved him and still love him as a dad. And I've been working with him for over two years now because he's a lawyer and I'm studying law. Over here, you have to work in a law firm to get experience in order to graduate.

And you usually don't get paid for it, but he pays me minimum wage, which is.

Way more than he has to. And I love him for that. That's really, really sweet.

Living alone for that long, however, was lonely. Even though I had a loving second family, but I wanted marriage. For her to move in with me and to not be alone anymore. And when I proposed last.

Year, she happily accepted and we kissed. And her family was so happy for both of us. Yeah, yeah.

Ah, this is the first part of up.

And then our supposed wedding came this past June. And in front of our whole family and friends, she said no and ran outside crying.

What? And I just stood there feeling like this was all just a dream. But no, it was reality.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You can't do that. You're basically married at that point.

Married because you said yes to the engagement, but no to the marriage. So if you say no to the marriage, no.

No means no. Here's the problem. You didn't do the wedding earlier. If you would have done it earlier, she would have said yes faster. Thus, she'd been married. I don't know. It's a problem with time. It's a time problem.

It's not a time problem.

Then what is it then? What kind of problem is this?

You know what?

Yeah, the only thing you need to fix a time problem, time machine.

That's true. If you had a time machine, then you could fix this problem.

Or Cindy Lauper.

One of the two.

By the way, this comes from deleted. And if you want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash.

Okay. Storytime subreddit.

And we're here to talk about some stuff and give some advice, but we don't have all of your answers. We're just going to tell you what we would do. So let us know what you would do down in the comments.

Come on, baby.

Let go.

OP says she destroyed me that day. Her parents went after her as I stood there, seeing all those people whispering and looking at me. And I just snapped. I went home and threw all her stuff away. That was already there. and then went straight to the airport to go to our honeymoon alone because it was expensive as heck and most of the trip was non-refundable. And I had already lost a lot of money in the failed marriage.

Oh, see? Just say yes at that point. There's so much money into a marriage and honeymoon.

So you just say yes because none of it's refundable.

Exactly.

That's not a great outlook on life.

Also, I came up with something really clever. Yeah? If you want to move in with someone before marriage... You both put in, let's say, like $ 5, 000, and you put in a high-yield savings account. And as long as you guys are together, that thing grows. And then whenever you have a honeymoon, you can use that money for your honeymoon.

But if you break up, you split that money, and then that covers the cost of moving out and all the logistics of that.

Wow. You know what? Riley cracked the code.

Riley can crack my code anytime.

What did he do?

Her family kept trying to get in contact with me over the next two weeks, but I deactivated all my socials. Even after I returned home, I couldn't bring myself to see any of them, so I even avoided work. I live in a small village where everyone knows everyone, and everyone here talks, and ever since that day, people made me this evil beaster that forced this innocent little girl into marrying, but she heroically saved herself.

Which is all BS. I never even raised my voice at her.

I think it just, this actually takes into effect. It takes a village.

Takes a village to cause rumors.

Life then went on and I found another lawyer to do my internship with and he was nowhere near as good as my ex-fiance's dad, but it wasn't that bad. And they stopped trying to reach out to me and people stopped talking about the whole thing and it felt like it's just moving on. When suddenly, around two weeks ago...

I was chilling at home alone at night. And her dad came over. I, of course, welcomed him in and offered coffee, and he accepted. Before we could talk, he started apologizing for his daughter, saying she got cold feet at the last second and refused, and that he, too, wasn't proud of her and wasn't happy about the whole situation, and I told him it was none of his fault and that I'm sorry for ghosting him, but it just was too painful to be around him, especially since she looks so much like him. even though I still love him.

Oh, dude, that's, in a way, that's your dad.

Yeah.

Because you lost your family early on in your life.

This was like your secondary family.

Yeah, yeah. He took you under his wing. He treated you super well.

Replacement family, yeah.

That's your dad, dude.

Exactly, yeah. It was just like, don't worry about it. Like, we got you.

And it's hard because it's like, how do you navigate this without anyone?

Right?

With no one. That's just like, oh, God.

Oh, so what's her deal? Has she not loved him for a long time? Yeah, I don't know. Where did it fall apart? Did she feel all this pressure because of how much of a support system her family was to him?

Yeah.

And she felt like she had to go through with it, and then at the last moment, blah!

I don't know.

I would want to get her side of how she felt and why she did that.

Oh, dude, a little documentary on this?

A little documentary? Ooh, I'd sit down and watch. I would!

He asked me whether I'd like to come back and work with him, even if I just want our relationship to just be a work relationship. Because he loves me like a son and doesn't want to lose that. And I told him I'd think about it.

That's hard.

Am I the a-hole because of how I reacted? And should I return to work with him? Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, man. Are you the a-hole for, like?

Just kind of disappearing for a little bit because you got stood up at the altar.

And then the entire village.

Yeah, everyone knew. Don't think you're the a-hole.

But they painted you like the, not necessarily the bad guy. Yeah, they kind of did.

Whoever talks first is what the truth is going to be. In history, wherever the truth, so what kind of like appears out of secondhand news, whoever said it first, they win. They get the truth. So whoever's been spreading these rumors certainly did not like OP for some whatever reason. Thus, that makes me think, was OP's fiance seeing someone else?

And was he some sort of political figure in the village? Thus, that's why the rumors spread so fast.

He should have gone to the YMCA and hung out with the village people.

Village people. Were those guys into each other?

Literally or figuratively?

Yes. Yes.

Literally or figuratively? Yes.

Yes.

Yeah, I can see her being with someone else, but being too afraid to like have it to break this off because her family is now his family.

So enmeshed.

So it's like, oh my gosh, like I feel so much pressure.

I can't just be like, oh, we're breaking up. Now he doesn't have anyone.

He's a part of the nervous system. Like it's easy to get rid of a bone. It's a little harder to get rid of muscle, but getting rid of a part of a nervous system. Oh my gosh. The nervous system touches everything. It's all apart. It's all in you. Yeah.

Update.

So, after reading all of your comments, I decided to talk to him, and I did. We went out to a local coffee shop and talked. I told him I'd love to work with him again, but the only condition is to not mention his daughter and what she's doing with her life, and to please not invite me to events she'll be present at, and he accepted.

I like that. I like that.

I think that's fair.

You got a great job opportunity that looks like it can scale... over time, and he likes you, I'd take that. And she also is not allowed at the office. Would you go one further on that?

I think that that's fair.

Or give me a heads up if she's around so I can hide.

Yeah, so I can hide. He's just, he's in the bathroom stall the whole day.

It's the Scott Pilgrim. Oh, is Scott here? Jumps out the window immediately.

Oh, dude.

Nah, you missed him.

Nah. Great film.

He told me that he too was embarrassed and shamed after the wedding and that he's sad and disappointed it didn't work out between us and that he understands why I don't want to hear about her. Then he asked about how I'm doing and where will I be celebrating the new year and I told him I'll do it alone at home which was the first time I ever did it because for the last five years I always celebrated with them and he was sad and said he'd have loved to celebrate with me as his son-in-law and I told him to say happy holidays to the whole family except her of course.

Then we left.

Oh, man.

Is that being petty? Like, happy holidays to everyone. Miss them all. Except her. Let her know that.

It's so hard.

I couldn't imagine being in the dad's place because he's like, I don't agree with my daughter, but it is my daughter.

Like, what am I supposed to do? I can't just like.

That's your almost son-in-law. Yeah.

And this was, you know, this kid came into our family having absolutely nothing.

Worked for me, worked hard to get there.

I appreciate all that he's done for us and the family and to my daughter.

And now my daughter ruins it.

Exactly. I don't know. I just get like, hey, almost dad-in-law wants to hang out with me. He just likes me. I'm going to be around. Sucks to suck.

He just loves me. Honestly, I'd take it. I take those odds. Yeah.

Like, you know what? This could make you uncomfortable. This could make me uncomfortable. But I'd rather have somebody in my corner rather than nobody in my corner.

Yeah. And honestly, he might not even like his daughter as much. Because hear me out. Daughter made dad, perhaps, pay for this whole wedding. Did this, said she loved him. Never had any signs of not being into OP. And then at the last moment, she booked out. You don't wake up one day thinking, I shouldn't be with this person.

Happens over time.

Well, yes.

Yes.

I'm sure it has happened.

But you know what's interesting? We have maybe heard two to three sentences about this woman.

Yeah.

This whole situation is about this woman. It's about him and the dad. It's about Opie and the dad.

Well, there's a second update.

Hey, it's Dakota, your favorite host who's always on track here. And we're going to get back to the stories in three minutes after these ads from our sponsors.

Earlier today, her dad talked to me and asked if he could come over and I accepted. And he came over with a gift basket full of chocolate, which I quite liked.

Maybe dad's trying to get with you. Uh-oh.

He's bringing him chocolates and flowers.

He told me that he just wanted to let me know that there was a second guy that my ex was seeing at the time, which is why she said no and left me, and that he was so ashamed to tell me that and so embarrassed in his daughter that he said she got cold feet. So she was cheating on him, which is exactly what I said.

So that's what I said first.

But I said it in a cooler way.

I said that he was a politician and was spreading rumors around the village.

No, politician.

You can't even name one. Boom. See what I'm saying? You see what I said there?

I could name one.

All right. Name five.

Go.

Five. All of the past presidents. Boom.

All of the past presidents.

Do you want me to actually name people?

Name will go.

Okay.

Mike DeWine.

All right. She knows one politician.

No, I just like don't really care for it. Like, I don't care about like, I don't know.

All right.

Anyway, I told him that I suspected so and that it wasn't his fault. I asked him whether or not he has heard what was being said about me after the wedding in the village. And he said that there were also people talking about his daughter and that she's a witch for doing that. And I asked whether he could stop and deny those rumors that That I was harmful, and he promised he'd help me and deny them.

So the dad doesn't like the daughter anymore is what I am assuming.

That's just crazy. Like, I get it. I honestly, I get it. But that is also your.

Cheating daughter?

Child.

Cheating daughter?

It is your child.

Or sad son-in-law?

Sad, hardworking, and great and amazing son-in-law.

Like, I mean, he's, yeah, no, he's playing like, you know.

Because son-in-law has nobody right now. He's got nobody on his side.

Yeah, exactly. Which is why I love the dad for doing this.

Daughter?

Got a new boy to help her out. Girlfriend's already got a new boyfriend. He's got all her siblings and everybody in the village. She's fine. I think OP can have the dad.

I also asked whether he could recompense with some of the money I lost in the wedding and Because I need serious therapy and it's really expensive over here. And I put almost all my money into the wedding and honeymoon and our house. And he agreed to give me half of the wedding costs. Which would be more than enough for me. And I thanked him for that. He also said that the guy his daughter left me for has already broken up with her. And she is regretting leaving me for him. But he understands why I don't want to go back to her. And he promised me that it won't affect my internship with him.

And I refused.

Returned to work with him next Sunday, which I'm thankful for because I hate staying home. Thanks for all the love and support.

Dang.

Dang. Dang.

Let's freaking go.

Yeah, it's just really hard. That whole story was really hard because you just like, the dad's just in the middle of it.

Like, what do you do?

Well, he put himself in the middle. I think he held himself very well to make sure Opie... was doing well, because he knows OP's a good kid. He doesn't deserve this, so he did his piece. And he's making sure everything's fine.

Which is a great person.

Honestly, props to the dad. I like that dad a lot.

He probably went to his daughter and was like, way to knock a guy down when he's down. Why didn't you just be up front? You didn't have to be... I get it. Maybe she was just being nice because he... I have everything. But that doesn't mean lead him on to this.

Dang.

We got the last story of the day right here. I hope you guys are ready. My girlfriend was cheating with her bestie's husband. I exposed them both. Oh, yeah.

Two for one here.

I've, 18 male, been in a relationship with my girlfriend, 19 female, for about a year now. And honestly, our relationship is pretty good. But ever since she visited her best friend's place alone, something's been off. Her best friend, 22 female... and husband, 22 Mel, are good people. We hang out with them often, and sometimes we go to their place and stay up late watching movies, playing games, etc.

But there was that one time I couldn't go with my girlfriend because I had to do something. She stayed the night like always and came back in the morning. My girlfriend's house is a few houses down across from mine. I can see her house from my window. That morning I woke up to go to work, and I saw a car pull up to her house. It was her best friend's husband's car. It stayed there for a minute or two. Then my girlfriend came out of the passenger seat and went inside and he drove off. By the way, this comes from BismolAstronaut404. And if you want to submit your story, go to r slash OKStoryTime subreddit. And we're here to read this story goofily. If you have anything you'd like to add, please add it down below. Opie says,

I really don't think much of it. But when I asked her that same day what they did that night, she just said stuff like, Always. Watching movies, playing games, stuff like that.

Stuff like that.

Yeah, they played games all right in the bedroom.

Yeah, they played In-N-Out.

Ooh. They played Dinger Boom.

Oh, they played Sorry.

Played Scramble.

It's Scrabble. They played Scramble.

But ever since that night, something's been off with her. She's always texting someone on her phone and won't really pay attention to me on her dates. And a few times when I go to her house, she's talking with someone alone in the phone in her room. And when I walk in, she quickly says goodbye and hangs up the phone.

I feel like she's trying to get caught.

Yeah. Well, she's 19. She's not really that smart.

This is like you're doing it blatantly in front of your partner.

Yeah.

You live a house down. The fact that Opie can just see her. It's like, you know, the SpongeBob me where Squidward's in his house and seeing Patrick and SpongeBob play.

Yep.

That's it. He goes, what was that?

Also, he's not very smart. He's 18 and he still hasn't figured out that she's cheating on him.

I mean, I think cheaters are just stupid in general and they're usually not smart. Like sometimes you get like the smart cheaters that are like, oh, I've like done all the math and this will never, you know, come to light, whatever. But usually you get the really dumb people who are like, oh, I know what to do.

And then they obviously get caught.

When I ask her about it, she says it's just some old friends or relatives.

Okay, let me see your phone.

One day, I was out with my mom shopping, and I came across her best friend. We said hello, and she said things like, why didn't you come that night? Normal stuff. But then she said something that made me right this year. I told her, what did you guys do that day? She said nothing much, since she came home late from work that day.

That doesn't stand out as weird.

By the time she was home, it was something like 2 a.m.

Never mind, that's weird.

And only her husband was home, and my girlfriend came later too.

Maybe she came earlier too.

What shocked me is that that's not what my girlfriend said. I know that she left home way earlier than that time. I didn't actually say anything and act normal, and I didn't ask my girlfriend about it either. I didn't want to sound like an a-hole who doesn't trust his girlfriend without him around. But after that day, she often goes out and comes home late at night. And I even saw her two times coming out of the same car that her best friend hugged. has when I asked her about it she said he saw her walking and offered her a ride home and when I ask her where she goes she always changes her story sometimes she would say she visits old friends sometimes something else.

And Opie's still trying to piece it together. He's like, something's not right. What's going on?

I would confront the guy. I'd confront the husband. Be like, hey, so what actually happened?

One time she came to my house and she went to the bathroom. She left her phone on the couch and someone called her from an unknown number. I decided to pick it up and I thought maybe it was the wrong number. But it wasn't. It was her best friend's husband. When he heard that it was me who picked up, he kind of hesitated and said that he called to ask about his wife, who wasn't picking up her phone. That's a normal thing, but why would he have my girlfriend's number?

Well, you guys are friends.

I honestly don't know what to suspect. I haven't gone through her phone secretly because I don't want to look like someone who doesn't trust his girlfriend so easily. Or maybe I'm scared that I would really find something. I don't know. What are y'all's thoughts about this? I honestly want some advice. And I will read every comment. Go through the phone or not. I'm saying go through the phone.

Go through her phone?

Yes. Yeah, I would.

I would have her do it in front of me. I'd be like, okay, so I'm just, like, feeling a little weird. Can we, like, sit down and can we just go through your phone a little bit?

I don't know if you need to do that.

And if she starts being weird.

Or tell her, like, hey, sorry, your phone was ringing a bunch. Picked it up. It was a random number. I thought it was, like, a spam. I was going to, you know. But it was actually BFF's hubby.

What's up with that?

What's going on? What's up with that?

Yeah, and then get her reaction because she'd probably be like, oh.

I'm going to the phone.

You just go through it without like.

Probable cause. If you already haven't. If you already went through the trouble of writing this Reddit post.

Probable cause. I mean, I'd go through it anyway. Yeah.

All right. Seems like we're going through the phone. After reading a lot of your comments, I decided to go through her phone, but she has a password put on it. Put the best friend's husband name in it. When I told her to open it because I need to call someone, she took the phone and was trying to look like she was opening it. But then she said my mom is calling me and went to the kitchen to talk.

After that, she acted like she forgot about it and said, let's watch a movie. I didn't say anything about it because I don't want her to suspect anything. At least not now.

Oh, dang. You could have called her out right there. I would have been like, no, actually, I know no one's calling.

Would you... risk getting more evidence to do that? Or would you rather wait and get more evidence down the line?

I would wait and get more evidence down the line.

I think that's his game plan.

I don't know.

I couldn't because it would bother me. I wouldn't be able to sleep. I'd be freaking out. I would have to be like, just tell me.

All the evidence is on her phone.

Yeah.

If you have nothing to back it up, this is someone that could say, you're crazy. You don't even know what's happening. Yeah.

No, I get where you're coming from.

Update. It's been two months since I last posted.

Oh, I've been single for two months.

Honestly, so many things happen. I just wanted to get away from everything and take a break to work on myself. And I want to say thank you to all the people who have given me their thoughts and advice. After so many people told me it's best to talk to her or go through her phone, I thought it was best to go through her phone since I knew I wouldn't get much from her if I confronted her. The first time I tried to open her phone, she changed the password. Which was weird since we both don't change it without telling each other. As a sign of trust.

But I didn't want her to know that I was going to go through her phone. So she won't hide anything if she had something in there. So one day I was at her house. We were watching a movie just chilling. After it was done she said she had to go to shower and left her phone there. I took the chance and went downstairs and asked her older sister if she knows the password. Because I need to make a call. And surprisingly, she did. When I saw what she had in there, it still makes me want to throw up to this day.

Oh, no.

She had her best friend's husband's Instagram and it went through her DMs. I was shocked. They were only flirting and spicy texting, but even sitting noodles to each other. I was speechless for a while. I didn't even know what to do. I just stared at the wall for a few minutes until... I thought about her best friend too.

She deserved to know about it. So I took some pics of the text and went out and called her best friend to meet me. We went somewhere quiet and honestly it was the worst moment in my life. It was the first time I was scared and broken. Too shocked to even say anything. She realized it and kept telling me what's wrong. Until I showed her the pics I took. She looked like she would pass out for a while. She just sat there quietly and started crying.

I've never felt that for anyone. I mean, yeah, she was my girlfriend and all, but for her, it was her husband. After I tried to calm her down a little, we talked about what we should do, and I told her she should divorce him ASAP and not stay with him any longer than she had to. She said, I don't think I can. And when I asked why, she said for a few days she's been having symptoms that can indicate pregnancy? And then if it was true, getting a divorce would be very hard because she can't take care of a child on her own. But she said she would take some pregnancy tests and hope for the best.

After that, I finally confronted my girlfriend, ex-girlfriend now, about everything on the phone. I didn't even want to see her face anymore. And I didn't want to do anything after that day either. So I just quit my job and went out of town. and went to live with my uncle for these past two months. And after a few weeks, my ex's best friend told me that the test came out negative and that she wasn't pregnant, and I'm honestly glad she wasn't.

Yeah. Oh, that would be a nightmare. Yeah. Thank God. Yikes.

Especially after learning that.

Trauma bond, trauma bond, trauma bond.

No child deserves to have a cheater father, nor does a cheater deserve to be a parent. And now I'm doing much better. Thanks to all the people who took their time to give me advice and asked how I was doing. But I still think about it and think, could I have done that better? I feel like I rushed a lot and ran away from that situation and left my ex's best friend alone to deal with it.

I'm going to check up on her since I'm back in town and hopefully she's doing well too. That's not your job, dude.

I mean, you both went through it. It is a trombone.

But also, yeah, she does have, like, a support system and everything. You don't have to, like, constantly, like, check up on her and whatnot. But just, I mean, yes, being a good friend is one thing. But then, like, you don't want to be weird about it.

You don't want to be weird about it.

Yeah.

So just let it go, dude. Well, guys, that's the end of that story. If you liked the intro, let us know. If you liked this story, let us know. If you love us, make sure to subscribe. We love you. And see you tomorrow.
