Hey, this is Dakota.
And this is Keon, your favorite OK Storytime host, and we've got some great stories coming right up.
But before that, we have a quick two-minute break from the sponsors that keep the show alive. My husband has a secret apartment with his friends. I think he's been cheating.
I think it's just for the boys.
This is the perfect for the boys kind of story. My 27 female husband, 33 male, has this group of friends. They've been close since college, and they're like brothers. So I've become pretty close with all of their wives. We have parties and everything together, and all of our kids are like cousins.
Aww. This is so cute.
God, I love a cousin that's not my cousin.
It's like a brother. That's not like a brother. Yeah. Like a Dakota. Like a Keon.
Look at us.
Look at us.
The wives are really sweet. And we talk and carpool and babysit for each other if we need. So, one of the girls texted me that she found out there's apparently this apartment all the guys split up the rent for and go there whenever to get away from their wives and lie about going on work trips. Ooh, I know that sounds really effing bad, but there is no way she's lying. She is not like that. I know she's telling the truth. And he does go on work trips and all that pretty frequently. But I always thought he was actually going for work.
Yeah, he's working on himself.
He's working. He's trying to buy apartments to rent out. This is all part of the research discovery phase, dude.
You have your book club. We have our secret apartments.
Yes, and it is a work trip. We're putting in that work on whatever game we're playing. Putting in work on the tiny little basketball hoop. I feel so effing dumb and confused, and I just want to call him up, but I know I have to be smarter than that. He's on a trip or whatever right now, and I don't want to text him where he could take a couple hours to come up with an answer. I need to confront him in person. This has me so effed up, I can't even explain the emotions I'm going through right now.
I have no effing idea what to do. I'm a housewife and I don't have anything to do with the finances. He has a good paying job and I have a credit card and whatever I want. He'll tell me if we can afford it or not. And sometimes we talk about our savings, but we really don't have money problems. So there's no reason to talk about it in depth like that. So I had no idea about him paying for the apartment. By the way, this comes from Witch Common.
And if you want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash OK Storytime subreddit. I'm Dakota.
I'm Kion.
I'm Sophia.
And we're here to read this story and give our good advice goofily, but we only know what we know, which is why we want to know what you know. So put it down in the comments. Let us know what you're thinking. We know.
They're just practicing, you know, reciting episode three, Revenge of the Sith.
Like, yes.
This is their treehouse. This is their magic treehouse.
This is the adult treehouse. They didn't tell any of their wives about it because immediately the wives would be like, you guys aren't allowed to have this treehouse. That's why no one talked about it. I'm going to go out on a limb right now. We are very, we're not even anywhere close to the end of the story. I say complete innocence. What say you?
Is it complete innocence that he's lying to his partner?
Well, I mean.
I go innocence, not completely. Okay. But I think the apartment is innocent.
Yes. Okay. So, and I know they're not doing anything innocent there. Oh no! We've been bamboozled! How do you know? The most innocent thing they're probably doing is some gambling and lying about leaving for work and just relaxing together. Worst thing is having affairs. Cheating once and making a mistake I can deal with.
Or maybe they're kissing each other. Maybe they're practicing.
I really want to unpack what you just said, but we got a lot more to read.
Good.
I know they bring girls there. There would be no other reason to rent out an effing apartment just to hang out. And that's why you don't know about the apartment, dog. I feel so confused and nasty, and I don't know what to do or how to bring it up. And if it's true, what the eff am I going to do? I didn't even finish my bachelor's. We met when I was 18, and then we got married, and I dropped out when I was pregnant. And we have two children.
Our daughter is six, and the baby is two. I'm trying to think of some innocent explanation that she made a mistake or something. I have no idea, but I don't know what to think. My hands are shaking, and I feel anxiety in my chest, like I'm going to have a heart attack or throw up, and I couldn't sleep last night, and this is too much for me to handle, and I don't know how to ask him.
I'm thinking of slyly bringing it up, but I'm not slick enough for that. When he comes home on Monday, I know I'm just going to start crying. And if it's not true, accusing him straight up is going to be so bad and he's going to feel terrible that I don't trust him or something. How do I ask him? There are comments.
Dakota, you know, what's that song called? It's by Van Halen. It goes, All I can think of is Panama. It's jump.
Oh.
She's jumping to conclusions without getting any cement.
You were not in the right register, but yes, you were right. Yes. Sorry.
Continue.
Continue. It should have been.
Like.
We can't do that for... That's why I did it in that tone. Yeah, right.
Obviously, it's been outed because if one of the wives know, she's probably... Did you ask that one wife that found out? Did you confront your husband?
Yeah, I mean.
Because if one husband gets confronted, all the husbands get confronted. Because he's like, guys, they found out.
Yeah, as soon as it leaks, all the guys are going to know.
Thank you, Christina the Greek. It's jump to conclusions. Yes.
I would give you a little source material for how to calm down about this. There's an episode of The King of Queens where this literally happens. All the guys in the show... Which, if you don't know, the King Queens is a sitcom with Kevin James, who's, you know, if you don't know who that is, Paul Blart.
Mall cop, that guy. It's the hand in the pockets meme.
And if you don't know who that is, I can't help you. And yeah, they had the apartment, not because they wanted to cheat on their wives, but they were just like, yeah, we can't hang out. They leave stuff on the table. We don't have the vacuum. I guarantee you it's their safe space just to.
Be like, wind down, relax.
Yeah.
Like sports, like mind off.
Correct.
It's just mind is off. Let me not think. Let me watch game. Let me play a game. Let me watch a movie, whatever.
Yeah. I think there's, if you convince yourself that this isn't like a dastardly nefarious act, because let me tell you something. I've never heard of like six guys getting together to all cheat on their wife in the exact same place. That's crazy. So I don't think that's happening. But you guys have a chance to like really mess with them here. And it could be really funny.
Maybe the girls, maybe the wives need a, like a little magic castle, like little tree, like little, like, like this is their tree house for the boys. This is the castle for the girls. Like they need their own apartment as well.
I think if you guys are not this, I mean, now that I'm thinking it, maybe this isn't the funniest. Like if you showed up and made everything spotless and then didn't say anything, And then they're all freaking out like, who was in here? Who did this?
There's no way we cleaned this up. Yeah.
Did you do this? I thought you did this. Who did this?
I think we go into this with tact. We got this. We have some comments.
Yeah, we do. So why did OP decide to talk with the other wives before confronting the husbands? OP says she has not told her husband or any of the other girls yet because she wanted to check in with me first to see if I know anything or what I think we should do. She thinks I'm good with stuff like this. I am not. I don't know where she got that idea.
Men, when they come up with plans, I'm not good at this. Someone take the lead.
I guess I'll see if I can get the girls together tomorrow and then we can talk about it. But I need them to not tell their husbands yet. That is the issue. Some of them are effing young and tell their husbands everything. And I don't know, they might freak out and just tell them. Why doesn't OP think her husband... would want a secret apartment just to get some peace and quiet. Opie says, no, we rarely argue.
That's not what it's about. Again, it's like, you just don't get it.
Completely over the head.
I let him do his thing. I understand he works a lot and he's tired and I am really understanding of that and I never nag or make him do housework or play with the kids. We should want to play with the kids. Honestly, I think I'm the perfect wife and I'm not even trying to brag or anything. I don't bother him or complain about video games, sports, or TV. I know he comes home from work and he's tired and deserves time off when he's home. And he's the same way too. I get tired and he knows that. So if his laundry isn't done or the kitchen is still dirty at night, he knows I'm tired and he doesn't nag me or complain that the house is dirty. Does he also not clean it a little bit, right?
He just leaves it there for you to do later?
What's his version of clean versus your version of clean, you know?
Is this a trad wife situation? Are we in trad wife central right now? Hmm.
The council of wives.
Yeah, he listens and says, trad vibes.
I don't know.
Why does OP think the secrecy itself is more concerning than the money spent on the apartment? Well, that's what I'm saying. The worst part is that he didn't tell me about it. That's what makes me think the worst. And I wouldn't care about the money either. Yeah, we're married and it's our money, but honestly... He works. He has more of a right to it. So I can't exactly be like, don't spend your money like this. So that's not even a plausible excuse. What did OP and the other wives eventually discover about the apartment? Hey, late responses are still encouraged. Okay, we're actually getting into some meat here. This apartment exists in my mind. I hope to God they're not cheating.
It's the treehouse. What's the secret passcode? No cooties allowed.
I would bet you that all of these guys probably went to college and were in some kind of frat something. And this is just the apartment they go to to have... out with the bros without having to tell their wife, hey, I'm not hanging out with you and the kids. I'm having my bros time.
I want to go be a slob. I want to go.
Yes.
I want to go. What was the Great American Challenge?
That.
Where it's like.
The Great American Challenge.
Is it the Great American? What's the challenge? Where it's like we have to order. We have to eat one full large pizza per person.
I'm unfamiliar with this. The good. The good.
As you should be.
Yeah.
And 12 rack, other things. Right.
They're reliving the glory days.
Absolutely disgusting stuff you don't want to see or be even around.
Yeah. And spoiler alert also for that episode of King of Queens, they end up realizing what they're doing is kind of lame, actually. They're like, we are all lying to our wives, and we're just acting like idiots, and I don't know, this isn't even really cool anymore.
This is their Chuck E. Cheese. This is where a kid can go be a kid, or sorry, an adult could go be a kid. I don't know.
I mean, how much time is he spending there?
Yeah, what is, that's the thing, that's the big question, is like, I'm going on work trips every weekend.
Yeah, like, what is he deprioritizing in order to spend time at the bro apartment?
He's trying to beat Dark Souls 3.
I feel you on that, brother. It took me a minute. Anyway. So I actually met up with some of the girls today. The one who told me about it thinks she found the address. She was going through some statements for something and her husband wasn't home. So she was just looking everywhere and came across some documents. Nothing locked up or hidden.
They're not evil geniuses after all. They just took us for a bunch of idiots. And I guess we are since we never realized. So we have the address. Still deciding if we should show up or break in to see what's inside and do our own inspection, or I don't know. Somebody commented something earlier about how they all probably already came up with a plan in case we find out and ask about it.
Burn it. Never existed.
It's just... It's just somebody calls. There's a fox in the... There's a hen in the fox house. There's a hen in the fox house. The entire building.
The seed has been planted. The seed has been planted.
Anyway.
So there's really no point in asking, and it's not like he's going to tell me the truth. He's been lying this whole time as if he'd suddenly become so truthful. That's so silly. Just ask. Just ask him.
Just talk about it. We're still jumping to conclusions. Yeah, we need evidence and proof. Yes, there is proof that there is a department, but we don't know for what reason yet.
Why is Opie hesitant to simply confront the husbands or try to catch them in the act? Opie says, I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing first. I talked to some of the girls, and we're just throwing ideas out there. None of us feel good about it. We're not exactly enthusiastic to concoct a plan to catch them in the act. These are our husbands. Our lives could change forever, and I have children. It's not as simple as just barging in and catching them red-handed or putting on a movie about guys with a secret apartment and watching their reaction. or starting a fight during a party and calling them all out. I'm trying to be smart about this. And I don't want to do something and then change my mind later and decide something else was
a better idea. Does OP blame being a housewife for having no financial or educational backup? Well, OP says I would have finished college if I didn't get pregnant. Being a housewife isn't the problem. It's my fault. I have no backups. And there's an update nine days later.
I think it's a separate thing that you should definitely bring up to your husband. For sure. That's a, like, do you want to go finish your education? Do you want to go back to school?
Yeah, like, what? Like, you can do that, right? This is very, yeah, ohitsbug says, definitely trad wives. It's like, yeah, I feel like there's a lot of brainwashing going on here about, like, what you're supposed to be allowed to do. Now that you're married with a kid?
Hold on tight.
Yeah, I don't know. That's a separate thing. Main thing, okay, let's go with the thing that's in our face first. How do we confront our husbands?
Kate bowed and says, get a PI, OP. I think that's a great idea. They should all pitch in to get a PI. And the PI just is like, Yeah, they watched all of the Back to the Future movies.
And then Lord of the Rings. They really have a lot of time on their hands.
Like, I wonder what their, like, is. I wonder. Imagine this is actually all of the husbands. This is not what it is. All of the husbands got together. And they're like, our wives deserve something really special. And so they found this apartment and they've been slowly turning it into, like, girly pop heaven. For all the wives to conduct their book club at. A dedicated book club apartment for all of their wives.
What an M. Night Shyamalan twist that would be, but no. You're throwing it out there.
I mean, it's a greater than 0% chance.
100%.
I believe it is still a less than 1% chance, but it is greater than 0. Put it at the.
05, yeah.
We have an update. Nine days later. So my friend who actually found out about everything was doing something with her taxes. I don't know. I'm not good with finances and all those technical terms. So I don't know exactly for what, but she needed some files and her husband wasn't home. So she went looking around and found the address on some documents. I met up with some of the girls and we were brainstorming what we were going to do. Everyone had mixed reactions. One of my friends didn't even want to be involved in it and told us to stop starting drama for no reason.
I would be like, you're involved.
Yeah, I'd be like, you don't understand. You are not free to go.
Yeah, you don't get to walk away from this one.
You knew what you were signing up for. I found documents. We decided we would probably camp outside of the apartment.
This was the plan that you guys manufactured? Out of everything.
We're camping outside the apartment to see if they bring girls with them or something. I don't know what we expect to find.
Oh my gosh.
I think you expect to find women.
Guys, it's going to be a girl stakeout. Nice.
But my friend's husband noticed that she moved papers around and so everything was busted. No secret mission. He told all the guys that we knew and it was over. So my husband came home early from his work trip, sat me down and told me everything. Everything about it.
Okay. Are we going to believe it? Are we going to Naruto Uzumaki believe it?
We're going to see.
Okay.
I already told you exactly what I thought. I proclaimed innocence from the very beginning.
Brother, you heard me too. It's not full innocence because they have been lying about it, but I think it is still innocent.
V-Ron says, what if all the women are just in unknown lavender marriages?
A mistake out, Oatsbug says. Yes.
All right. He's like, no, it's just a place for me and all the guys go to make a hangout. Hangout. We make, we don't, we hang out there.
Yes.
With all our clothes on.
Over the pants.
He told me it was just a dumb spot.
Yeah, there it is. Miss mistake out.
Oh, big mistake out.
Oh.
She's out and about.
Bang. He told me it was just a dumb spot to hang out and relax and they could be loud and annoying without bothering me. And he was sorry for lying and keeping it from me. That makes no sense. Which again is okay.
Okay.
All right. I am 100% okay with him having his friends over and I never complain about noise or anything.
It's not about that.
It's really not about that, dude.
They're literally in a room farting, burping, doing obscene animal sounds.
Yes.
Reenacting stuff that they are just nerding out about. That's what they're doing.
There's just such a different energy amongst the guys here. When there are no ladies of theirs present. And it has nothing to do with how we feel about any of y'all. It just is a fact. There's stuff that happens when girls aren't around that just doesn't happen. Even if you're in another room and it's soundproof, it's just different.
And Snickersnack says, if that's all it is, why lie about it?
Because it's just like... They made it, it's like, ah, we got a little secret clubhouse.
It's sad.
And they're not hurting anybody. Well, I mean, again, it depends.
They hurt all of their girlfriends.
It depends on what they're, if like there's like a major thing happening and they're like, no, I'm going to blow that off and we're going to hang out at the cool guy apartment. Okay.
I guarantee you they go.
The existence is not a bad thing. I guarantee you they go.
Work trip? Work trip? Work trip?
Work trip?
I don't know. If I found out that my partner lied to me.
About a work trip or just lied to me about where they were going so they could go hang out with their guy friends, I'd be like, what's wrong in our relationship that you felt you needed to lie about that?
No, I agree. But I think it's like their little thing.
Honestly, I think this apartment exists outside, like, all rules of reality.
Outside the nether. It's outside the nether, yeah.
It would probably be a big shift in my relationship dynamic if I found out this happened.
I think I could give some examples, but It's like there's a difference between the that I do on this show versus what was going on when we worked together at the frat house card shop. Yeah. It was just a little more going on. I don't know, man. I don't feel like I can do an example of it on here.
You cannot.
It's just too much. I don't think there's really any. It's because Sophia's here, dude. I can't do it.
Well, I don't think there's a problem with that. I think it's the secret. I don't think anyone cares about why.
I don't know.
I feel like it's like their inside joke. I think that was, though.
I mean, sure. It's like, yeah. But the big thing around the secret is, yeah, it's a secret. A secret that they're keeping so they can cheat on us.
That would be my first thought. Maybe not my first thought, but I understand why OP thinks that. Because, like, why else would it be a secret?
Anyway, a couple people in the comments brought up Rent. and that it's financial mistreatment or something. It's not a bad apartment, probably $ 1, 500 a month. But split between six guys? Not so bad. I don't really know what to do. I tried getting mad about it, but he just took it and apologized. And that didn't help or make me feel better.
What did you want, then?
Yeah, but also, like, I guess OP's problem now is that she didn't believe him from the start.
Yeah.
And so she didn't hear what she thought she was going to hear. And she's just kind of stuck in limbo. Because there's a problem in the relationship.
Because she jumped to conclusions. But, yes, I mean, I would also, too, when you hear any partners, like, I'm going on a work trip. And work trip is, I'm going to go have fun without you. Or I'm lying to you because I'm with my friend's ego. Why are you lying to me?
I just.
I guess my thing is like, we read a story, I can't remember who was on, about a guy who lied about an allergy.
And I was like, well, why did he feel the need to lie about it? And he's like, well, I just didn't like those things.
And then we found out like hundreds of other lies. So I can see where OP is coming from to say, what else would he be lying.
About if he could lie about this?
I just realized what we're all missing. We were talking about how these are all trad wives, right? But these are just trad husbands. And what's the most trad husband thing you could do? Cheat on your wife.
However, they're like, we have to.
I thought you were going to say secret club.
I was going to say golf.
No, no, no. No, of course it's cheat on your wife. But they're like, we don't want to be 100% trad husbands because we don't want to cheat on our wives. So let's make our secret that we just hang out. Yeah? Yeah? Yeah. Come on. Come on. What would you rather them cheat?
Anyway.
I feel so effed over and as if I'm overreacting like he's acting calm and relaxed and I'm freaking out and it's making me feel crazy.
Can we breathe?
Breathe. We were so slow to act on it and she was messy and left footprints and now we'll probably never know that truth. He promised to show it to me next weekend but that's not even going to put my mind at ease. They could just clean everything up, get a few PS4s and TVs and pretend it was a guy's hangout. I told him that I wanted to go that day But he said he was tired and just wanted to spend time with me and the kids.
But if I really wanted, then he'd take me that night. I said that I was fine going next week. I don't know what I was thinking.
Oh, that was such reverse psychology. That was such reverse psychology.
Was it, though? I think he was like, well, no, we were just there. And I don't even like I would like I came here to be with you.
He's reverse psychologizing you, too.
He got everyone.
Well, no.
He's so good. She could have just went, okay, we'll go tonight. And she didn't.
Nah, he reversed psychology so hard.
He went, I'm kind of tired, but I guess if you don't want to hang out with Mina and I, I guess we can go see this place.
No, you know what this is giving? With OP and her husband, overthinker, underthinker.
Yes, exactly. That's perfect. I don't know what I was thinking. He's a freaking baby.
That's what I thought. I was like, he's got you.
I just don't think he's getting anything. Like, right? I don't know.
I think regardless of whether or not.
If this was a nefarious apartment.
All right. I guess my sentence doesn't matter.
If that's the way you choose to think about it. What were you going to say?
I was going to say, regardless of whether or not OP's husband is telling the truth, there's a problem in the relationship. And then you go get a lot of counseling. Yeah.
She's got to figure out why she can't just say what's on her mind, you know?
Also that, yeah.
Oh, there's other problems?
I feel like you know the best thing you can do because it's six couples, right? Something like that?
Yeah.
Assemble. Everyone, we assemble to the apartment tonight. So we get everyone's story. What is this? What is that? What is this? What is that?
To be clear, the guy never said that he doesn't want to play with his kids. OP just said she never nags him about playing with the kids.
Yeah.
You know?
All right, keep going.
We're getting close to the end. I don't know what to do. Should have gone to that apartment, dude. A part of me is thinking that if he was bringing girls there, at least I know now and he's going to stop and it's over and we can forget about it.
Okay, that's deep.
Okay.
And it may be right, it may be wrong, but you don't have any concrete evidence and you're processing all of these things.
That's crazy. She's really taken all her thoughts as the evidence. I just want to know the truth. He's telling me they were just hanging out, but how do I know he's not lying? I don't know. Do you know your husband? I wish we went over right when the girls and I found out. We waited for too long and it all got ruined. I just feel dumb. He's acting so sweet and I can't help but act okay with it.
He's being so nice. He knows he screwed up big time and he's being really accommodating and taking care of the kids so I can relax and have some downtime. I don't know what I'm supposed to do now. I don't know if he's telling the truth or what. And I was coming up with all these theories and plans and ways to catch him or something, and it all backfired.
I wish I never found out about it because I can't stop thinking about everything. It's torture. I'm just wondering if he's had spastic times with other women. And how many? And did he really F other women and then come home and have spastic times with me? And I don't even want him to touch my kids if he did sleep with other people. But he's my husband.
You are spiraling. And I'm not saying it's unjustified to be spiraling, but you are spiraling.
This requires mediation.
But he's my husband. And I love him. And he's so good to me and my kids. And I'm like, there's no way he was cheating on me. The thoughts running through my head are horrible. And I'm just visualizing everything. And I don't even know if it's real. So half of me is saying I'd be naive to think it was innocent. And the other half is saying I'm overreacting.
And to just relax. And he's a good husband. And I'm making something out of nothing. The conversation is had.
Does everyone's stories match up? You should have gone that night. That was your golden ticket of like, he's like, we can go. I know. That was the golden ticket.
That would have helped, I think.
And I don't feel like he like.
There's no way he offered that up without it being like, this is not a, as Ming Ming says, this is not a bang den. He said, dude is good at manipulation and love bombing.
I thought you were saying Ming Ming said it's not.
No, no, it's, I'm not getting that at all from this guy. He's good at manipulation. They got caught because some guy had a, just like the paper for it, like out and about. I don't know. Like, this clearly wasn't that like, it's just not.
We don't know the truth until the truth really comes out. But as of right now, the bad thing is they lied. It's like saying, hey, we're going to the beach house, but we don't tell our partners that we're going to the beach house, which is bad because you should be honest with your partners. Be like, we're going to the beach house. What's going to happen to the beach house? Farts.
Yeah, but what if like 50% of the partners are like, you can't go to the beach house.
Then that's a conversation to have with your partner. Yeah, that's not our issue. That sounds like a you issue. A you shoe. Moo shoe.
Like I guess like if, you know, your girlfriend said, hey, I'm going to, I'm going on a work trip.
Yeah.
And you said, oh, okay.
And then you find out after the fact that every time that she's gone on a work trip, she's actually just hanging out with her friends.
With her girly pops?
That's right.
And they go, they're going and doing stuff that I don't want to do at all.
No, you don't know what they do.
They're just having fun.
They're doing their book club.
Yeah, but if we're doing a one-to-one to like what this guy and his buddies were doing.
No, it's one-to-one. All you know is that she was hanging out with these friends.
It was based off of a lie because he said, I'm going on a work trip. Oh, I'm dreading it. Oh, work trip.
Yeah. Yeah, it really would depend. That's the biggest thing on how, because, you know, it's a lie. They lied. But, like, how deep that thread goes of, like, oh, yeah, it's the work trip. Oh, it's the conference for this. I'm going to see Tony there. God, I got to get these reports ready for my manager.
Now, based off that, going, you know, ahead, now every time you hear work trip, it's apartment.
I don't know, bro. Just give all the wives keys to the apartment.
Done. Next.
Next.
Update two. Okay, so I talked to him this morning. I told him how I was feeling and that I can't trust him and divorce is on the table. D's on the table. Because I don't feel good about all this at all. And he has to tell me the truth. He took me to show me that the apartment was nothing and it looked like a full ugly hangout. I did an inspection and made him leave me alone to look around and he let me.
I wouldn't touch anything. Not because of, like, spicy sleep-related stuff. Just because it hasn't been cleaned in a long time.
Yeah. I did not find any Wiener Rappers or anything related to the spicy times or anything like that. But I'm still mad that he'd lie about leaving for work. That's really not okay. True. I have to agree. Agreed. And there are some comments. But girl, you did wind yourself up super bad.
I'm saying she did a Mr. Fantastic full on twist.
I think. And I'm sure we've read plenty of stories where it's like, yeah, I don't know. I thought this person was my everything. I thought I knew this person and they cheated on me. But like. I gotta feel like if I'm married, and I put my wife in this situation, I can automatically assume I would never marry anybody who would cheat on me, right? Or that I would know them. Or if they did cheat on me, I'd be like, I could tell by how different and weird you are, you have done something wrong.
True, but you're still blatantly lying to my face about just this. It's a blatant lie.
What if?
You could just have your man cave down, like, be honest with me.
Yeah, I would just be honest.
Like, hey, guys and I have a man cave, but it's a man apartment.
Yeah, yeah.
No girls allowed. No girls allowed.
Guys, something that we haven't thought about, what if those other four wives we don't know about are actually super toxic?
Well, that's another story.
What if this is four men escaping their toxic relationships? For a brief weekend. And then there's two other guys who are like, I would also like to support my brothers. I know what's going on with them. But they're such good husbands. They refuse to leave their wife because that is a holy sacrament.
I solemnly vow. Yeah, I made a pact with a demon.
No.
No matter how... No matter the way you put it, it's bad that he lied. Like I said, when we said it was like, is it 100% innocent? It's bad that he lied. It's innocent, sure. But it's still... lying about the innocence.
I'd say with what else was on the table, yes. And guess what? Exactly what this is, is the exact storyline of that episode of King of Queens. Guess what happens? All of their partners get mad that they were lying about going to some little frickin' den of frat house delights. Yeah. Anyway, we've got comments to finish this story off.
Hey, it's Keon, your favorite short king. We're going to get back to the stories, but here's three minutes of ads from our sponsors.
Mio says erm as if he'd leave any evidence lying around before bringing you there. Some guys just don't get it. Some people just don't get it, bro. Opie reads that and she starts spiraling again. She's spiraling again. He's not that stupid. And oh, he's suddenly so truthful and transparent now. Trust your guts, Opie. Don't be naive. So what? They stage.
Who's bringing girls back to a disgusting hole in the wall?
I mean, guys do that all the time.
Yeah, but then the girls open the door and they go, oh. No. Nuh-uh. No thanks.
I know girls that have slept with a man who had active bed bugs.
Do we know her? I need to talk to her. How hot was it?
Who?
No, it's okay. We won't.
We won't.
We won't. No. What was I going to say? This is why I said what I said earlier. That's why you get all the husbands, all the wives.
Maybe it was one of you in the chat.
Maybe.
Someone did that.
But it's like, does everyone's stories match up? Does everyone's things match up?
Yeah, but four of them are like, yeah, I hate my wife. Not your husband, though. He loves you and your kid. I don't know.
Why are you hanging out with people who hate their wives?
They got married. They're locked in. They can't do anything about it. That's it. Guys, the context of this is super trad. They're super trad.
Boom, ba-doom, boom, boom, ba-doom, boom.
That's super trad. Okay, an OP was downvoted. Well, he wasn't going to take me. He said this weekend, but I told him he had to take me today and made him drive me. I know I don't want to be stupid, but I'm starting to think that maybe he wasn't cheating. He's not a cheater. He's really not like that.
And we have a great relationship. Maybe watching sports with his friends there. I could see. But realistically, I don't know if I believe that he'd cheat. Trust that part of your gut, OP. That's the end of that story. Yeah, dude, they're probably just hanging out and talking in a way that would make you all want to divorce them. I think, you know, that's probably what's really going on.
I think it's what's getting, getting to, like, I understand is that OP, I think someone said in those comments too, because he's the breadwinner. He's the one who brings in the money. doesn't want to bite the hand that feeds, one, but also two.
Yeah, that's a really terrible position to be in.
Two, she's like, there's no consequences. Even if I caught him red-handed, what's the consequence?
I think consequence should be all the wives get their own apartment that y'all also pay for, and we get to switch weekends. One weekend you guys get to go boy land, and then the next weekend we get to go to girl land.
Yeah, I think that's fine, but is that going to make everything easy peasy lemon squeezy? No. No. No, no, no.
Why not? It should. It should. It should be as simple as that, ladies and gentlemen.
You can't buy my trust like that after it's been broken.
I agree.
Let us know what you do in the comments down below. I know it's an innocent, you know, fun apartment, but it was based off of a lie. So that's not innocent nor fun.
Ming Ming doesn't get it. It's all right. Not everyone would get it. Just go watch King of Queens, bro.
King of Queens is not a real thing.
King of Queens documentary. Anybody being like, this is an insane thing. No one would ever do. The only reason anyone would do this is to cheat. Just go watch King of Queens. Yeah.
Okay.
Documentary King of Queens.
Yeah. Written by human beings who have lived experiences.
Documentary King of Queens.
Oh, yeah, you're right. It was a documentary. God, I forgot about that.
That is the end of that story. We have another one coming right up. My ex misused child support for herself, so I stopped sending money.
Is the kid still being taken care of, though?
I was married to my ex-wife for seven years, during which we've had two children, a girl and a boy. Shark boy, lava girl. The girl is special needs and requires additional sessions with medical doctors for communication skills and social conduct. I divorced her five years ago in less than amicable terms, following which she decided to take our children and move to another country without my consent.
Illegal, right?
Yeah, maybe. I don't know where you live, but probably.
Somebody get a temp check on that.
At least wrong in many ways. Despite this, and the fact that she never requested child or spousal support in court, I've been sending them money on a monthly basis so as to ensure that my kids will have all the necessities in their new home. Oof. Oh, I hate that.
Oh, no.
Is that like emotional blackmail?
This is all kinds of blackmail. I don't know.
Furthermore, I've made an effort to visit them on a yearly basis, even though they're thousands of kilometers away from my place of residence. By the way, this comes from user Mr. Suvlaki, and if you want to submit your own stories, Go to the r slash OKStoryTime subreddit. I'm Keon.
I'm Dakota.
I'm Sophia.
Us three beautiful goobers are going to try and give good advice on this story. We don't know everything. We only know what we do. So let us know what you do down below in the comments. Pretty please. As Opie says, here's the thing. I've stopped making the monthly payments on two occasions. The first time my ex requested an additional payment of 500 euros, supposedly in order to purchase clothes for my kids. And I found out that she used all the money to buy herself a plane ticket.
Here's the thing.
I saw you teeing it up. I was like, I hope she doesn't put it up there because I'm going to serve it up.
Oh, I thought you wanted me to do it.
No, I was looking. I thought you were like, get it, get it, get it. Well, yeah, but it was too late. So I was going to say, here's the thing. Later. Yeah, yeah.
We just edit.
We did it. Yeah, we'll fix that in post. Don't worry about it. That's the thing about post-production. You can fix a lot of things. Thank you.
Are we done?
We good?
Yeah, let's get back to our real thing. Cool.
Oh, there it is. Ben Grimm. The first time my ex requested an additional payment of 500 euros, supposedly in order to purchase clothes for my kids, and which I found out that she used all the money to buy herself a plane ticket back to her... Natal country?
I guess the country she was born in.
Probably native country. Back to her native country for vacationing, following which I made it clear to her that if she's going to misuse the money I send her for the children, I am under no obligation to continue this practice in good faith. After I received assurances that no further misuse of the provided funds would take place, I then resumed the monthly payments.
So, can you look up what the rules are in Greece? Are you allowed to kidnap your own child? From their father in Greece. Computer, type in what country allows you to kidnap your own kids? Computer, make this guy a souvlaki right now. Hey, so mad that I didn't come up with that and that's not my thing. It's so annoying.
It's so annoying because it's so good.
Computer.
In Greece, the parents share joint parental responsibility. You cannot legally take a minor child out of the country without the other parent's explicit consent, doing so without permission whatsoever. or a court order can be treated as a serious legal violation or intentional child abduction.
Okay, dude, so sick Interpol on your disgusting ex-wife.
But also, here's another thing. You visit the kids. You go, hey, kids, here's a note. Like, do the little, like, swipe. Here's a note. We leave at dawn.
I've got the horses out back.
Yeah, the horses are ready. Mm-hmm. On my signal, we leave.
Saddle up.
So, again, that was the first time. And we thought that would be it, right?
Wrong.
There's a second time. The second time, my ex requested a significant sum for school fees for the two children. And due to the fact that I had paid a significantly smaller sum on the previous year and that I had not received a copy of the relevant invoice, which I had requested... Again, both for tax purposes and to verify I was not being lied to, I requested from the ex to provide me with the school's liaison so as to settle the payment directly with them. My ex-wife got immediately defensive, acting offended that I don't trust her. Again, major red flag for me. And that she supposedly gets a different rate with the school than I would due to her being unemployed.
Wouldn't that mean it's less? There's no way the school's making you pay more because you're unemployed.
Bingo. Said the words I was thinking.
Dude.
Man, I hope your kid inherits somebody else's, not even either of your smarts, because you somehow let your ex-wife steal your child. And that was just cool, I guess. You're like, I'll just play this out.
Yeah.
That's not very smart.
I don't like this. I don't like this one bit. So after another string of mistreatment from her end and as well as her stating that she doesn't need me because she's found another man to take care of her and the kids, I told her clearly that due to her refusal to provide evidence that she's using the money I sent her on my children, as well as due to her continuous mistreatment towards me, I will no longer be making any payments toward... It has now been a year since I've last sent her any money with no communication from her end. I've sent her a message on WhatsApp requesting that she verify her present address in order for me to send the kids Christmas gifts, but I have received no reply. Opie now asks, And we have
an edit, but let's answer that question. I would classify you as an a-hole for a completely different reason.
Why did you not do anything about this?
Because she took them away. And that's it. I have no other choice.
You did nothing? Nothing. Nothing. You just sat back and were like, I guess I'll have to let this happen.
I feel like OP did the good old college try and say, could I have them back? And she went, no. And he went, I tried.
Wait, what did he do? What did he do?
Okay, well, here's the thing.
What thing did he do?
No, what did he do?
He did the thing.
He did nothing.
Oh.
No, you know, when I say nothing, you should just pull up a blank screen. Because there's no thing. Or just pull up a picture of the Fantastic Four without the thing in it. Yeah, I agree with you.
Dakota, that OP's an a-hole.
There it is. There's nothing.
Nothing. You know nothing, Jon Snow. I agree with that, OP. If you really wanted to see your kids or get your kids back, you would fight day and night. lawyer, anything to get them. Maybe you don't have the funds. That's us jumping to that conclusion. But you think you would try, rather than sending the funds to your ex, who stole your kids, by the way. Yeah.
Like, is there some other explanation as to why you would let that happen? Like, do you feel like the kids would have a better life where... She took them or like, is there more support there from like her family that they wouldn't give them here or wherever you are? Like you got to give us something because as of right now, it feels like you just kind of were like, oh, well, I mean, I can always send them money. Wow. It's quiet around here.
That's easy.
Huh?
Everyone's happy, right? No qualms.
Yeah. Yeah.
I think when you're asking your question, am I the a-hole for no longer sending money to my kids? I mean, for my kids to my ex? Wrong question. Because you're thinking harder, not smarter here, obviously, OP. Get your kids back. Stop sending money to your ex. Maybe get an account for your kids. I don't know. I don't know how it works. They're not old enough, obviously, but there's got to be another workaround for this.
To be fair, the only thing that we know for sure is she's lying to him to get money. We don't actually know how the kids are doing. I feel like if he visited and the kids were, like, not okay... Immediately, that would be like, okay, we're changing this arrangement now. But the problem now is more like he's not sending the kids any money now because now he's found out when he sends her money, she just uses it for like a vacation. And it's like, well, I'm not just going to give you my money so you can go on a freaking getaway.
Fair.
Fair. But we have an edit here. Let's go ahead and read it.
Edit.
Thank you for all your responses so far. Just wanted to reply to some frequent questions. Probably some of our questions.
Question number one. Why didn't you take your ex to court on kidnapping charges? That's the big one.
That's a big one. And we have an answer.
That can't just be the full thing, right?
I really hope that the answer is because I don't want to.
Please tell me there's got to be another sentence.
We have an answer from Opie and I'm going to be, here we go. Opie says, because I don't want to traumatize my kids by having police officers drag their mom away in handcuffs and then being taken to CPS, even for a short amount of time. Despite all her actions, I still believe we can settle this in a civilized manner without getting the authorities involved.
I believe that answer. However, I believe you did not do enough groundwork to make sure that like that wouldn't happen. I'm pretty sure there's a way you could have made that not happen like that.
I like how the story was written like that, too, because I don't want to have the like. Yeah.
Like, couldn't you just like take your kids back? Yeah. And then what is she going to do? Re-kidnap them? Like what? Yeah. If you if you retrieve your children after they were kidnapped, did you now also kidnap? Is that a dub? Do they cancel out?
Also, you want to do this in a civilized manner. Nothing civilized about your kids getting kidnapped.
Yeah, man. Like, I can't imagine that not just being immediate, like, holy fire, like, raining down.
To give OP a little bit of, you know, I can see why he would, because there would be an interim of the kids go into some other.
Person's custody as he gets over there. So, like, I can see what he is saying. Obviously, I think I'm more on your guys' side with this, but I can see where OP is. Like, I don't want them to even have that.
All I'm saying is.
You know what I just realized?
Okay.
Okay. He probably didn't know, right? It's not like it was an announcement. Like, I'm taking the kids and I'm leaving forever. It was probably like, oh, we're going to go visit Meemaw.
Yeah, probably.
And then just never came back.
So that's probably a big thing. My thing was, if she can do it, so could you.
Anything she can do.
I can do better. Question number two. Why did you allow them to leave the country in the first place? And here's the answer to your question, Dakota.
Bing bong.
I didn't know they were going to leave. Continuing this answer from OP saying, I left the ex and the kids in my own apartment and moved out. I visited weekly to bring groceries and take the kids out to the park as the ex was pretending to be ill from me leaving her. She did ask me for a plane ticket fare, but I refused. Apparently she sourced the money from elsewhere or she had saved up on her own.
The border agents should have stopped her, but they didn't. I don't know why or how she made it through, but she is a citizen.
Who knows?
But your kids are your kids' citizens?
Maybe?
If she's a citizen, then yeah. That's how my citizenship works.
Question numero tres.
Three for my English speakers.
Hey, it's Dakota, your favorite host who's always on track here. And we're going to get back to the stories in three minutes after these ads from our sponsors.
Why don't you ask for full custody of the kids? Answer, I could do that, but it would not be enforced unless the ex came back to my country with the kids, which I've been led to understand will never happen. The decision for the custody cannot be enforced by foreign states. The mom and the kids must reside within the country's borders.
And there's a second edit, but whoa, that's a lot. That third one was pretty deep.
This is a very sticky situation.
Yeah.
So with all that being said, I guess... It makes a little more sense how this kind of all happened without you being like, hey, what are you doing?
Yeah, we got more clarity.
It was like every system that was in place to prevent this from happening failed. And it seems like after that point, it was like, well, all I have left is to do an Interpol arrest and traumatize my children and put them in CPS for a little bit.
And that sounds bad. Well, we have a second edit. maybe some more answers to questions, but let's find out. Edit two, because it's apparently important, according to my lawyer, the amount I was willingly to send monthly was significantly greater than the maximum child support that would be ruled for my income. Roughly 50% more, in fact.
Dang. Good dad.
This may also explain why the ex refused to go to court for child support.
Makes sense.
Don't matter. Take her to court. And we have an update. Hated that little tidbit there. That wasn't fun.
Sofa says, this is what happens with a mail order bride.
Update.
Does it?
Before we end this update, do we think Opie's going to get the kids some way, somehow? Or at least there's another solution.
Do we have the ages of the kids?
Five and two. It's like they're pretty young.
Oh, wait.
Maybe that was the last story. But I just know they're... No, actually.
We don't.
But I would assume they are... Just a girl and a boy. I would assume they are younger than 10, for sure.
I mean... Ay-yi-yi, dude. I don't know.
I hate this.
I don't know what's going to happen. I don't know who's going to come out on top on this one.
Fingers crossed because it seems like Opie's at least a good dad or trying to be a good dad, a good father, good person.
Yeah, he's literally doing exactly what I always say, which is you got to think about the kids. When you got the kids, you got to think about the kids.
And his hands are just like tied up. He's like, I don't have really any other options here. Unfortunately, I wish I did. So I'm hoping there is another option, but.
Let's find out. Well, I mean, yeah, if you stop the support payments and then she has to go through the court to get you to pay- Which she could, but then that would also expose what she did. So she won't.
Gross. She's gross. We have an update. Once again, thanks to everyone that offered constructive comments and criticism. I have decided to try and get in touch with the exes. and start providing some financial support once again. Not having any restriction on how she uses the money, but requiring nonetheless that I have weekly contact with the kids over WhatsApp.
As someone correctly commented, if the ex doesn't want to behave as an adult, I have to be a big enough adult for the both of us and ensure that the children are not affected from the parents' falling out. Real talk.
Yes? Ding dong.
That's Marvel Rivals. That is Marvel Rivals.
I rest my case.
I know where that picture's from. I guess my bitterness on being taken for a fool by the exes didn't let me see the whole picture and realize the wider consequences of my actions. So far, I haven't been able to reach the ex. Either she changed her number or just reads my messages without responding. But I'll keep trying and I hate that.
Well, I hope that lawyer that you're talking to has a lot of really good ideas and actions to take.
Is there any, like, do you know any of her family members that reside in her home country? They probably will take her side. But at the end of the day, like, I'm doing this for the kids. It's not about me. It's not about her. It's about the kids. Yeah. Which, again, this is such a crappy situation.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm pretty sure if you, you know, illegally abscond with your children to a different country... I think at the end of that, you probably forfeit your right to custody. Not sure about that. That would be my guess. Yeah, I think you might. Dude, I don't know. Talk to your lawyer. But if I was you, my plan would be I'm orchestrating the, you know, take her away, boss.
Like while I'm there and I'm making sure that I can be there throughout the entire process to make sure my kids are OK.
Yeah.
Do we go with the. Do we do this just because it's going to be coasting it and this is the best solution we have for now? How long can we do this?
Whatever.
Or do we just do the really bad thing that's very short and can stop this going for a full long run here? I don't know. Yeah. I don't know.
Yeah. And I feel like depending on their age, you could probably insulate them pretty well from this. It just all depends. And I don't know. I got to assume whatever agency you're working with, I mean, whatever the CPS agencies are, wherever, I mean, I know in here they're pretty stupid sometimes. But, like, if you got all this proof and all this evidence and it's like, yeah, these are the dates. I've been sending money. This is a bank statement. Like, just release the kids to me. I am their father. And, like, in the interim when it's, like, determined that I'm in the right, like, I'll leave. But don't put my kids in a freaking holding, like, home or something.
At this point, logic was already thrown out the window when she said, I'm going to kidnap the kids. I'm going to take the kids with me.
That's the thing.
He doesn't get a choice.
Yeah.
I wish you the best of luck, OP. I wish the best for your kids. And hopefully this can be solved. But that's the end of that story. We have another one coming up.
Yeah. I'm about to leave my wife because she destroyed something I'm passionate about. Not my war hammer. Please tell me this isn't Legos. I, 35 male, have struggled to find something I truly feel passionate about. My entire life. I was laid off at the beginning of the shutdowns, which made it worse, and I've been taking care of our child, who's three female, while my wife works 40 to 50 hour weeks at a very physically demanding job.
My wife, who's 27, and I have been together for seven years now. She knows that I've struggled to find things I'm truly passionate about. We recently moved back to a state where medicinal devil's lettuce is legal.
Oh no, don't tell me that's going to be your personality? That's the thing that you're passionate about? Out of everything?
Not Mary's jaundice. I'm going to call it that for the rest of the story. Mary's jaundice. She's got a liver condition. It's not her fault. When first moving back, we thought, great, this was always a dream. Let's grow some Mary jaundice.
ICU.
My ICU is that he's just going to be a stoner.
That's the thing. Well, after further research, we discovered that it wasn't actually legal for citizens to grow yet. So, I tell my wife, quote, even though this has been a dream of mine, if that makes it so you don't want to grow anymore, I understand. She told me, yeah, I don't know. If it's still illegal, we should probably stick to dispensaries for now. And I said, okay. Well, after about a week, I had her convinced that I could do it discreetly and no one would have to know and it would just be for us. Hey, dum-dum, did you know... dispensaries have to buy their Mary Jaundice from something, someone, an entity. See how I said citizens can't do it? But if you were a legal business entity,
that changes everything.
Don't worry, OP. When was this posted? I need to know. But I feel like this was posted during a fun time when this show on this channel called AMC was being aired. It's called Breaking Bad.
Six years ago.
Close enough. Not really.
Breaking Bad was like when I was in middle school.
And it's still to this day peak.
Yeah, dude. One of the best shows on television. Maybe number one or number two.
This guy's going to have a substance ring.
Don't let this man near a chicken store, whatever you do. So I invested in a grow tent and DWC, not sure what that means. It ran me about $ 1, 200, but in the long run, it'll save us money. And it's been a dream of mine my whole life.
That's your dream? Ugh.
Fast forward to next week, and by the way, yeah, this story comes from throwaway11120. If you want to submit your own stories, go to the r slash ok story time subreddit. I'm Dakota.
I'm Keon.
I'm Sophia.
And we're going to read this thing, and we're going to have our thoughts, and we're going to try to, you know, have a good time with it. But we only know what we would do in a situation, but we want to know what you would do. What do you think about it?
You know what I think?
Let us know.
You know what I think? Hey, sleepyhead. Take a walk. Throw your passion in a pit.
I said, ooh, girl. Shock me like an electric eel.
That's MGMT.
I know.
You motherfucker. You ruined it. I did so well with that. I did so well with that and you ruined it.
I didn't mean to rage bait you that bad.
That wasn't even rage bait. I'm upset. I'm raged.
Well, I knew it was passion pit. I think I didn't know that was passion pit.
More than just a dream. Because you're out of my league.
It's me.
There's a show called Weeds. That too.
Here's the bing.
Here's the bing! Yeah! Now take his head and put it on the thing.
On it.
It's a bing thing. I'm on it.
And then do a big bang theory.
Honestly, before I read any more of this, OP, I need you to look me right in my eyes. You're an idiot. You have a child, and you're going to risk going to prison over this?
Idiot.
Complete idiot.
I just like how he's like, I haven't been passionate about anything the last 10 years or so. Growing Mary's jaundice has been a dream of mine.
That's like, oh my God, no, dude.
No, no, no, no, no.
And like, if that was true, it's like, dude, you could have made it a business. You could have made it a business, but instead it's, you're just going to grow it and, oh God.
He's doing, we bought a zoo.
Dum, dum, dum, dum. He's doing, we bought a zoo. It's a good dream. It's your dream. Instead of we bought a zoo, it's we bought a few strains of Mary's jaundice. Anyway, OP says, we were two weeks to harvest, as the farmers say. Wife and I got into a big fight about housework. I wonder why. She freaked out and ripped out my plants. She has threatened to rip them out when we get into any argument in the past.
She has seen me over the past several months feeling truly passionate about this. I have vocalized it that I have finally found something that really has me driven to do better. This is doing better?
I have a passion. You said I get a passion, and I have one. It's driving me to do better.
Avery Swamp says grow some food.
Yeah, buddy.
Prove it. Grow anything else.
I would.
Yeah.
If I were OP's wife, I'd be like, what is better? In what reality is this better?
Yeah. What are you talking about? For you?
For our child? For me?
What's the end result of this? Like you could have made this a business the whole time. It could have been operated purely as like, we're going to grow this and we're going to sell it to dispensaries. We're going to make money. Passionate about learning horticulture or whatever. It's not true at all. You sound like you could be doing a lot better, actually. So for her to rip out those plants, she's ripping out something that I really care about. And she didn't care that the plants were something I cared about. They were doing great and they were beautiful. We had a minor issue with some WPMs.
Not sure what that is either, but we got it under control early. I put a ton of work into these plants, and she heartlessly ripped them out without a care about my feelings. Oh my gosh.
World's tiniest violin.
Hold that thought.
Uh-huh.
I feel like I can't ever forgive her for this. Oh my god. I'll bust out that violin. Yeah. Yeah. She sees nothing wrong with what she did. Our fight that triggered my wife to pull the plants in the first place was that she came home from a long week to a mess. We have a three-year-old. No, I'm not always on top of the mess. She can level a room in 30 seconds flat. From my wife's side of things, she thinks she did nothing wrong because she felt she was being put second to the plants. But that's not true. That was our daughter.
Honey, it helps her fall asleep.
She's really calm. Ever since, she's been really calm. You're actually in third place. That's not true, though. I was spending maybe eight hours a week in that room, which is locked and totally inaccessible to our daughter. She says that, about it was the fact that she destroyed something I care about and she says I'm the one that needs to apologize how can I make her understand that I cared about something and she destroyed it and that it devastated me that she didn't care that she had just destroyed something I cared about there's some comments I wonder what.
Give me that tiny violin again I'm doing hmm my heart will go on right now that's that's that's what I'm playing on my tiny violin because dude you're.
In the raw yeah I'm playing galvanize on here uh.
That's sick I'm doing the Veronica's Yeah.
Yeah dude Your wife is 100% in the right I'm sure you I only spend 8 hours working on them per week And what else do you do during the week.
By the way she's been working 40 to 50 hour.
Weeks She works 40 to 50 hour weeks And you can't keep the house clean From when she gets home Really Really Is your daughter the Tasmanian.
Devil Yeah I feel like when she said find a hobby or find something that gives you drive, it wasn't going to be something, I don't know, illegal. And don't get me wrong. I'm not upset about Mary's jaundice. Do whatever you want. But you have a family and this is what's taking up your life. And you have no, like, back end. Like, I have a job.
I have this.
I have stability. It's just like, this is my thing.
And you live in a place where this is illegal, which is ridiculous, but that's the way it is. And if you got caught doing this, guess what? Your daughter gets taken away from you. Is that worth whatever you're theoretically saving on your freaking Mary's jaundice budget?
Even on, like, the aspect of your relationship?
Yeah, and if you're not working, you shouldn't be doing any of that.
Are you selling it?
He probably would, because that's the dumbest thing that he could possibly do. Yeah.
The pyramid scheme, a pyramid scheming in my brain. Yeah. The fact that in this asset, no matter what, it was just like, say it was like model cars, reading books.
Yeah.
Whatever. And he just starts putting money into that, but he's not making money. It's all bad. Think of it like that.
I don't know, bro. Honestly, if it was $ 1, 200. That's great, by the way. Oh, nice.
That's really good.
It's a Bing thing. Nice. That makes me very happy.
Someone said this is Randy Marsh from South Park.
Yeah, but at least he made it a business. He was doing it right.
Yeah, he had Tegrity.
Yeah, I'm not going to lie. If it was $ 1, 200 in model cars, I would be more on your side in terms of how upset you are.
Because it's not illegal.
I would still say don't divorce your wife, idiot.
It's not illegal.
Okay.
Well, we've got some comments for this gentleman.
Oh, boy.
I guarantee you they're going to be very nice.
Comment one. I'd really like to hear your wife's side of this story. Let me take a stab at it. I met my husband when I was 20 years old and he was 28. We've been together for seven years. I work an extremely physically demanding job for 50 to 60 hours a week and often come home exhausted but still manage to find time to cook clean and care for our three-year-old daughter because my husband, who's been unemployed since the spring, refuses to get another job. Instead, he's become obsessed with wasting my hard-earned salary cultivating Mary's jaundice, which is not even legal to grow in our state as a citizen in his spare time. Last week, I came home after another grueling day to find my husband
locked in his grow room, fiddling with his precious plants again. While the house was completely trashed and our daughter was sitting in a filthy diaper crying because she was hungry, I absolutely lost it and destroyed every effing thing in that grow room and then went back out to take care of my daughter, cleaned the house, and finally collapsed into bed exhausted at 2 in the morning. My alarm went off at 6 a.m. and I had to feed and take care of my daughter before dropping her off at my mom's before work because I couldn't trust my selfish husband to take care of her. Now this a-hole has the nerve to try and demand an apology from me for destroying his precious Mary's jaundiced plants and his
grow room because it's the only thing he's felt passionate about in years. Never mind the fact that I'm working my butt off to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table and doing the majority of the childcare and chores while he puts our family in jeopardy, risking arrest and jail time for his illegal and expensive hobby.
He's been whining that I owe him an apology for over a week, and done absolutely nothing to address the fact that he's not pulling his own weight in our marriage and home. I'm sick of his BS, and he keeps threatening divorce if I don't apologize. Frankly, I think divorce would be easier on me at this point. At least then I'd only have one child to take care of instead of two. And there's an update. Shocker.
Was that your wife? That had to have been your wife.
I think that was probably exactly his wife. Wow.
How do you think Opie responded to that? He went, nuh-uh.
I would assume OP responded to nothing.
OP went says you or like it wasn't fully like that but let's be real it is exactly like that good on that commenter putting OP in this place well hopefully in this place we have an update let's see.
What happens I would believe or not believe do you.
Think OP doubles down he's like nuh uh.
My biggest thing I would put to him I'd be like dude you say you haven't been passionate about anything in like your whole life and you never found anything you have a three year old daughter Maybe make taking care of your daughter to the utmost of your ability your passion in life, right? Do you feel no drive for that?
What else do you like? There's no way in... any universe that you have zero passion or anything that you don't like. There's so many things. There's so many things. But the number one thing that put you back on the board was that? What did you study in college? Did you go to college? Who were you before you met your wife? What happened?
Yeah, true. Yes. I have a feeling this guy might have always been like this. Probably. But like, it's reality.
I don't know, man. That's crazy that you think Your wife's in the wrong.
Ab's just a bonehead. Number one bonehead of the century. Update. She says she's the one leaving now. Oh, she said maybe she was wrong for snapping and ruining the plants, but said she's disappointed that I haven't realized what I've done wrong yet. I didn't destroy something she was passionate about.
Yeah, guess what?
You have.
Your family life.
Get a load of this guy. Some of you are saying, It was the messy living room. She comes home to messes all the time. Why was this mess the one that set her off?
Dude, you know what? You're so right.
Let's run that back one more time. She comes home to messes all the time? Hmm. Hmm. When you have a cup and you put water in it, OP, at some point the cup becomes so full of water that when you add more water, the water overflows.
No, it's infinite cup. Duh.
Forgot about infinite cup. She's just insane. That's so funny. This has got to be bait, right?
No, read the next sentence.
She's insane.
Read the next sentence.
What else could I explain it with?
She just wants to be mad at me, to be mad.
You nailed it.
It's my typical wife. I don't think a messy living room should equal ripping out a person's dreams.
The fact that this is your dream. You know what?
Dream sucks.
Keep your dream. Kid and I are gone.
Yeah, man. You're unsavable. You're unsavable. And by the way, had the perfect, perfect way to actually do your dream if you would have just started an actual business and pursued that avenue. But you only did this to save money instead of going to the dispensary in the long run, which is not it's your dream to.
I don't even know what your dream is. Like, at this point, what is your dream?
I guarantee you they're not even saving my... While these are being grown, I guarantee you this scumbag is going to the dispensary. So... And he.
Goes to the dispensary. Get a load of this, guys. I'm trying to do my own thing. And my wife is upset that I'm doing my own thing?
I'm gonna do my own thing.
Ay-yi-yi.
Yeah. Chandler Bing.
I'm gonna do my own Bing. I'm gonna do my own Bing thing. Hell yeah. Update two. My wife and daughter are now staying at my in-laws.
Shocker.
Wife has her parents pick up our daughter if we are fighting. Wife says daughter doesn't need to be around us when we fight. And I agree. That's the first smart thing you've said this whole story. Anyway, wife said she feels awful about ripping up my plants. She said she knew how much they meant to me and she should have found another way to get her point across to me. I told her that after posting our situation on Reddit for some third party input. I now realize I definitely overreacted. I told her that I'm not proud of the things that I've said or done, but she's insisting she stays with her parents at least through the end of the year. I have never intentionally hurt my wife.
Okay, buddy. You say that.
Sure. The fact that you think it really matters if it wasn't intentional, it kind of speaks volumes. It really has only ever happened when I don't realize what I'm doing. That seems to be all the time, buddy. I know this is no excuse for throwing her into a chair. Is that a turn of phrase?
Is that a saying?
Is that a turn of phrase or did you strong arm your wife into a chair?
I hope not. Let's just go with that is a phrase.
I know that I need to seek professional help and she does too. No, buddy, you need to seek a job.
And then help.
I know in my original post I 100% came off as an a-hole, which I'll admit to. Sure. I was not in the right state of mind. You're not even admitting to it, though. You're admitting that you came off as an a-hole. Not that you were. You're basically admitting that you think everyone misunderstood you.
You're beating around the bush.
God, I hate this guy.
Yeah, because you won't take full 100% accountability. It's cute. It's a good personality trait. It's really cute. It'll stick.
I was not in the right state of mind when I wrote it. I guess I thought posting on Reddit would result in different advice. than I was given. I bet you did, buddy. I bet you thought everyone would give you a pat on the back.
Like, that's a good dream. It's a green dream.
We are almost at the end here. Let's go ahead and finish.
Off Captain Doofus. Yeah. Captain underpants on his face over here. I'm sorry, man. The consequences of your actions... Well deserved.
Yeah. I'm not sorry at all. I think be prepared to lose your wife forever. She's not coming back. I need to stay at my parents until the end of the year. She's not coming back. And you don't deserve her to. I guess this post gave me what I needed to hear in the end. I'm going to do my best to earn the trust of my wife back.
She is really the best woman I know. I know I wasn't fair to her. I know that no matter how hard the last nine months have been for me, they've been just as rough, if not rougher, on her. I know I probably don't deserve her. All I can do now is hope she comes back with my daughter and gives me a chance to make things right, T.O.D.R.
I've made a huge butt of myself and now have to face the consequence. Yeah, that's the end of that story.
How many chances do you need, O.P.? How many chances do you need?
Dum-dum of the year award goes to that guy.
Get a job. And I hope that things do work out for your family because that's the best case scenario that you get a job, you get yourself nice and clean, nice and tidy. You find a hobby that you actually enjoy that is legal, that you can enjoy maybe with your family, that you can share with your family that approves of it. And all is good. All is well.
Maybe you give your wife a break that she needs.
But we have comments.
But we have comments.
Well, before we finish this, we've got some comments from the video. My mother-in-law picked a bride for my fiance after we got engaged. This was posted on April 25th, 2025. TLDR for the first story. OP introduced their partner to their loud, loving Middle Eastern family over Thanksgiving, and it mostly went great until SO sent a photo of his own parents. His mother's first response was, was to call OP's family a gathering of terrorists, then demand her son come home immediately to meet the nice neighbor girl she'd picked out instead. That was just the beginning. When OP and their significant other decided to get engaged, her partner's mother had a complete breakdown, screaming, threatening to disown her
only son, and launching into nine months of relentless love bombing, creepy midnight visits, and disturbing messages. It got so out of control. And if you're curious to know the full story, you can go watch the full video. And we have some comments here.
Boy, oh boy, that sounds like a crazy monster-in-law.
It was.
We got a comment from Pam Minnick who says, Opie dodged a bullet. Imagine being married into this family.
Yeah.
So true.
Well, I mean, was that based off of the partner or like the partner's family?
Mostly the family.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah.
Autumn 557 says, what's crazy? His mother-in-law got what she wanted. The fiance left. So why keep bothering her now?
She left. I just don't get it.
Hate is a strong, strong emotion. For no reason, too.
Yeah, for real.
Academically, Mochi says, I have to criticize how OP allowed the ex-mother-in-law to run her mouth and not sue her after affecting OP's work performance.
Oh my gosh.
International lawsuit.
Yeah.
That's probably a lot. Yeah.
And Keishon Dawkins says, his mother is crazy.
Absolutely.
Can't argue that one bit.
Put her in the loony bin.
But that's all the comments.
And the end of this episode.
That's right. So if you love us, make sure you subscribe.
We love you.
And see you tomorrow.
